Hey guys

I've put a new pod filter in my skyline due to the piping of the FMIC

anyway it's making shitloads of boost sound even at 2000rpm

is there a way I can control that like buy a boost controller or something???

I really have no idea about forced induction stuff

so if any1 has a pic of where they installed their boost controller that'll be much appreciated

Thanks

I've actually got the airbox, the brand is the netami gold pod filter

there is a hole where the old SMIC piping was,

of which I connected a tube for air intake under the front bar

it makes less noise with the air box but still quite annoyiny when all I want is to drive it normally

the standard airbox can be modified but I'd have to cut a large chunk out of the air intake

which will render it to be not very efficient

When you gota pod filter on, it will make that sucking noise. Its what a pod does.

No point putting a boost controller in to lower the boost on your stock turbo. (BTW Your turbo is stock right?)

I like have the sucking noise with my car, sounds great!

What material is it made from? paper? cotton? steel?

If you want to keep the pod - get one that is paper or cotton - that will quiten it down.

else

fit the stock air box up with a paper or highflow panel filter.

i know what you could be going through, i just took the pod filter of my v8 ute and put the the big airbox with over the radiator surround intake (mouth) because the sound of the induction noise on the pod (paper filter) was very loud, even idleing...

but the HKS pod pn (foam pod filter) my r33, the induction noise gets louder when you are comming onto boost, i do like the induction noise it gives, a deep howling noise...

The induction sound is air sucked through the pod AND the compressor turbine spinning and compressing that air, which was previously muffled with the stock airbox + filter. It's normal (and sounds sahweet) as you come on boost from around 2000RPM+.

haha @ GTST.

There is no way of getting rid of the induction noise with the pod, even if you box it. You'd need some thick heat insulation in there to make quieten it down, but even then I'd highly doubt it'd get rid of the noise like a stock air box.

Pod induction noise, you either love it or hate it. Or just learn to live with it.

    • Hey y'all, had some bad ball joints in my tie rods, so figured i'd just replace both inners and outers.  Went with the high-misalignment system from GKTech. My car's lowered so figured why not. M14 Super Adjustable Inner Tie Rod High misalignment S13 240sx/S14/S15/Skyline tie rod ends (12mm/14mm) Welp, took over a week to get the job done, but finally did. Took it on the maiden voyage today and... - The OE boots do not sit properly on the new inner tie rods - If you look at the photo in the link above, new ITRs are basically threaded all the way through the length of them, so best I could do was tighten the boot down with a screw-down hose clamp onto the ITR's threads. - There is a "whoosh"ing sound every time I turn the steering, seems like it could be coming from the air moving into/out of boots. Concerning, bc it'll likely pull in nasty shit from the outside when I turn... namely thinking of moisture. - Looking at the rack from the back of the car, under it, the left tie rod is straighter than the right. Right droops down a bit. - My alignment is way outta wack, that's expected. Taking it to get an alignment as soon as I can. - The big thing is that the steering isn't really "springing" back like it used to. Wondering if there's something tied to pressurization of the system that I managed to f**k up. This was supposed to be a 20 min job... why doesn't anything ever go right with these cars?
