I'm just taking it slow at the moment. I'm waiting for the gearbox to get back to my mechanics and hopefully the thing is still broken down so I can get some pictures and then I'll talk to the gearbox specialist that diagnosed the problem so I can get specifics and also a quote on how much it would be to fix, I won't pay to fix but just so they can see how much damage is present with a monetary value.

I'm also looking into the department of fair trading but I'm a bit weary of my chances as this has been an ongoing problem for months now. Starting with them not sending the parts actually needed to fit the gearbox and due to some of the parts being sourced from Nissan it took time for them to arrive.

In a nut shell I want to know exacts and get them on paper so I can start building a strong arguement and not go into this umming and arring.

Thanks for your support guys, it's heartbreaking when you try to do the right thing by people and be nice and they just spit in your face.

just out of interest many eons age i organised a reco auto box for my mum's car

came to $500 for the box

installed but there was an issue

got them to drive the car to one of their service agents and they sorted it out

lasted for years until we traded the car in

thing is the gearbox place was not a JAP import type place so they're a bit more legit

Guys,

we all know who this business is.

They are well known for their rediculous prices, i dont even call them anymore when i need parts even though they are local to me.

Good luck with it mate, i hope you get your refund.

My gearbox never saw the road, my car has been on a hoist since last November getting work done to it but to be more precise It's been on a hoist since April just for a box that would work to go into it. This business thinks I'm doing the dodgey on him.... How the fek would I do the dodgey when my PFC is still sitting on my mechanics shelves unopened haha... The car can't even be turned on and I'm supposedly doing shonkeys?!!? Cause people love to walk everywhere so they can go to the hassle I am right now

I think my correct avenue will be the department of fair trading just need to get some particulars from my mechanic and I definitely need this digi photos of the sort of damage it's in because that will be a good indication of how severe the damage is and then I can post them up on here and see what people think.

It's the forum rules that we can't publicly bad mouth business to avoid litigation against our beloved SAU. Wouldn't want to see this place get shut down all over a silly gearbox would we?

So who is it?

Can we all stop being pansies with the PM's..?

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
