What happened to the r31?

He had over heating issues all day and eventually ended up with a blown motor.

But he has an RB30 twin cam waiting to go in it so he didnt really care about the old RB20 giving up.

Oh awesome Vid Jon..But I dont think that is me :( That's Jay the other white GTR cause I never saw that R34 on the track..but I heard Jay mention it :)

Jay and I where both getting happy on those ripple strips up the top :)

Aww really? Ah yeah, after looking at the full resolution video again it looks like the number plate is SIG-80E or something like that.. Oops! :(

Yeah not sure if i'm a fan of the new ripple strips... :)

So that's what my car looks like from behind ;)

Sorry to hear about all the breakages. I managed to get away with only a split intercooler pipe (15 year old original) and an airy brake pedal (needs another bleed).

Great day, improved heaps and thanks to all the peeps that made it happen :)

if i can get my car ready by then i'd be keen, specially seeing as i only manged 1 session all day. details?

its just a thought at the moment considering how much the weekend cost to get the car ready plus fuel.

how'd you go getting home. hope there wasn't much damage done

Well DAMN!!!!! Why the hell did i spend all that coin on a big build. turbo's cams etc etc.

Just looking through this thread The only modification required is "hand timing" :P

(sneaks back over the border)

:D

If you can afford it, the absolute best mod is a "bum" lap timer. Made by the same group that released the "bum dyno".

I spoke to the company who sells them, and my 1:18 hand timed, should be a very accurate 1:07 on the bum lap timer :)

ha ha im gald they make both products cause once you make a bum power figure you need a bum timer to give you times that match the power!

Thanks for the tip Nismo. Are they a direct bolt on mate?

Jay, you drove past VZ SS and me on the Freeway on way home when we were pulled over on the side!

And I think you were MUCH quicker than your 1.13 in your sig!!!

Sorry about not stopping, didn't recognise you guys, hope all was good.

Should be much quicker now after I was shown the fastest way to go around the corners. Definately felt alot quicker :)

:P I wanted it to be me aswell ...Anymore vids Jon...You had some good lines on the track :D Well Done

did those cable ties hold up??

I like the big ripple strips I got pretty airborne up the top when I was chasing Boz ;)

I think it was on its last legs..But pretty sure the owner wanted it to die cause he has a better motor to go in it ;)

Yep! The cable ties did beautifully thank you :)

All hail the mighty cable tie!

I've got plenty more video, it takes me a bit of time to chop it all up because the original video is 1920x1080i resolution (about 190MB per minute!!), so it takes some time to compress it down to a downloadable size..

I only regret not getting some footage from outside the car, it's all in-car unfortunately. I was also lucky enough to have clear track ahead of me for a lot of the time, so it havent got that much 'chase' footage.. I'm browsing through now.. I'll see what I can find of other peoples cars

I hear that mod makes you chop atleast 8 seconds off your time, with no need for improved driving skills at all!! I wonder why no-one ever bothered to bolt one up when official timing was still in play :P:)

On a topical note, some of those pics are fantastic!!

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
