I don't know! As I said until the Franfurst motorshow in a couple of weeks time we are still waiting on all of the spec of the car. It doesn't actually exist yet! All I know is that the apparent aim for the 2 cars were:

"For the Roc to be an RS Focus beater and the R20T to be an EVO and STi beater."

So heres hoping they are up to it! Although if they really wanted the Golf to be an EVO beater they should have put the 2.5L V5 Turbo from the TT-RS/RS3 in it rather than the S3's 2.0L.

It's actually a shame that the Showroom rules don't follow exactly the Bathurst 12hr rules in the max price level as it would open up a whole whack more options to be competative in (those Audi's fore example!). As half the reason I'm keen to do this car is to have something I can do both events in down the track. I'm sure I can find a few boys that'd put their hands up to have a crack at Bathurst in a couple of years if I have a suitable car.

there was a 350z in showroom the year we went down. about mid field...

Yeah, Brown/Locker ran the most competetive one, but Appo and I smashed it in a literally bog stock bug-eyed STi (14th outright).

Now, these VeeDubs Snowy...... can you stroke them? :domokun:

So it looks like TQ was disqualified for having a cat-less mid-pipe (which I personally think should be standard on all R35's! LOL) and intercooler pipes.

Questionable on how much difference either makes to the perfomance of the car other than sounding better! There would be some but nothing too significant. But you can be sure both were on the car at TT since they were both part of the HKS GT570 kit he originally got. Just lucky they didn't check his actuators! LOL

Definitely some R8 envy.

But if a Mazda 3 can do ok there is no reason this can't be midly competative. The EMO is still the Showroom weapon of choice no question, but this little thing won't come with the weight of expectation which would be a blessing, and if it's anything like the Scirocco it will be fun to drive which is just as important as being fast IMO.

You're 100% correct there my man, being fun is a huge slice of the experience.

Thats one reason I decided to keep my thing and not "step up" to an Evo/STi......

And really, the MPS was only up there because there was no one else having a full crack at catching Greggy

Just got a email yesterday, the targa invertationals that were at symmons for the v8's have been invidted to come and be a support class for the v8's at phillip island.

Targa Invitationals at Phillip Island with the V8’s

Following the success of the inaugural Targa Invitationals at Symmons Plains earlier this year, the Invitationals has been invited to be a part of the up-coming V8 Supercar round at Phillip Island on Nov 7th and 8th, which has been organised due to the cancellation of the Bahrain round.

The Targa Invitationals series is open to any car that is eligible to compete in Targa Tasmania and the driver has a current CAMS circuit licence. The entry fee of $795 (+gst) includes garage and power and the on track activities will be a practise and qualifying session with a minimum of 2 race sessions.

Although short notice, the Phillip Island event will be a great weekend as it ‘s the first time the pre race V8 grid will be open to all ticket holders for 45 minutes prior to the race so all spectators can view and get up close to the drivers and cars, and access to the V8 paddock will be free to all.

Due to the short notice unfortunately we need a quick indication of who may be interested and information on the Invitationals series and the Symmons Plains round can be found at www.invitationals.com.au. If you or any of your mates whose cars and drivers comply would like to join us at Phillip Island please register your interest at [email protected] or phone 0411-822710 by this Monday 28th September.

We apologise for the urgency, however this is a perfect opportunity to test your Targa car on what is regarded as Australia’s best racing circuit, be part of the excitement of a V8 Supercar meeting and most importantly have a heap of fun with likeminded competitors.

na the one yesterday was from some other bloke, more of a eoi. only the symmons entrents were on that list.

you going to enter?

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
