yeah I 'built' one too... cheaply... didn't end well... actually it didn't start well either, had piston slap from day 1 and ended up spinning a bearing while at the top of 3rd at sandown... lasted a while though... maybe it wasn't a good idea to run the stock ecu with speed cut and instead of shifting to 5th at the end of the straight just leaving it in 4th and banging it off the limiter few times.......... oh and oil coolers are for pussies........ ahhh good times

lol

mine was "built" by a rather well known Melb worshop....and yeah..was a sack of poo until it smashed a piston ring to bits at wakefield...kept going though and eventually died on the central coast a week later....400ks from home :P

Should I let the cat out of the bag and tell you all I'm looking closely at a full race/rally 1978 Porsche Turbo in Europe at the moment? ;) Don't tell anyone

Details pls

Disclaimer: Giving of details may lead to me purchasing it from under you. :P

that's a bit ghey... I had someone who had never even seen something with overhead cams do the machine work cos they were so cheap... unfortunately they never measured anything so the crank still had a bend in it... lasted an amazingly long time being abused with a banana for a crank

hey is the targa tour considered to be majorly limp wristed? sounds like a fun way of driving those roads without ruining your car or losing your license

am I banned from this section for mentioning the tour now?

That's why i said Europe and not a country. You can get farked :P

Don't make me throw a hissy fit!

I was looking up Euro Porkas for sale last night... hmmmmmmmmm. A LHD GT3 or '73 RS/RSR replica would look nice in my driveway me thinks. Pity I wouldn't be able to pay the bills to run it

That is in my list for 2011. I highly doubt my car will make it OS so will be sitting around storage and I think Tasse will be ripe for the bark of a bit of gate and titanium exhaust tunes from RB20 :P

Benny boy, in case you are not stirring and will be looking at a car, I am out of India at end of the month and will be car stuff in Europe in June, so may be able to get pics/videos etc

Does this mean I shouldn't wear my UNIT tank top when we go to Townsville Timmy?

Please! wear it! While your at it a pair of cheap Fluro sunnies an bleach blonde hair...

dunno how you go about the pre-pubescent acne though.....

I am seriously looking mate, in conjunction with a close friend. The car is good, it's me with the mental barrier.

Also, as I'm not at all familiar with the things, my big concern is running it against the known contenders, only to have a protest lodged for something that I wasn't aware wasn't factory or legal.

At least with a Datto I really have no one to blame except myself.

Jeez you're game. Corey would beat the SHIT outa you man. He's cool.

Hang on didn't you do the Tour one year?

yes me and dad did the first tour. Dad apparently was told that you could drive though the stage, but would be kicked out if you went too fast. By the start line there was a sloow tour leader.....it was a trap....a cold wet trap as the gt40 leaks like a siv

    • Hi. This is just my curiosity because iam sure the tuner figure something out...but either way i want to ask. The "problem" is that the Nistune ECU (Stagea FW and RB25DET NEO from Stagea) sees many times the speed than the speedo does(he says the speedo show 120 km/h - correct speed and the ECU shows like 510km/h ) I told him that this car/tranny getting speed from rear diff. If iam not mistaken the RB25DET NEO "need" to see tranny speed sensor? (my tranny has the plug for it). So couple of "question" If he connects/wire the speed sensor to the tranny...are the signals gonna intervene and if...what if he disconnects the rear diff one and the speedo stops working? Or the "new" sensor from the tranny "take over" and will not going need the one from diff? As i said i know he figure/get that done...iam just curious to know what are the solutions 🙂
    • Your IACV is set to idle too low. You need to adjust it via the screw Duncan mentioned. From memory it should be 650rpm with the valve electrics unplugged. What is it trying to idle at with the IACV plugged in?
    • Ahhh, I need the whole head unit. I definitely needed to roll back through and review your setup, ha ha! Neat setup they have going on. I just need a full double din head unit. But I want good and responsive. I might have to review what the likes of pioneer have out these days.
    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
