The way I read the rules it's any E85, as long as the 85% of ethonal is from CSR. "CSR Ethonal blend" is the wording from memory.

I'm hoping that's right, cause the Powermax is cheaper than the CSR (now Sucrogen), and uses CSR ethonal

Right now I can find 4 suppliers of "racing" E85.

But you can also buy the non-racing (basically 91RON mix rather than 98RON mix) from a couple of local petrol stations.

I guess it would be tops to know from that list what can and can't be used.

that RX7 is not a bad piece of gear for $35K providing the engine is a good one. it would be a great fun circuit car or a pretty lively tarmac rally car.

also on E85 there is also a local sydney supplier now who is selling E85 with the CSR ethanol but blended with BP100 RON premium petrol instead of 98 pump gas. if anyone is keen send me a pm and I'll put you in touch. price is competitive I think and can deliver drums of various sizes.

actully it's better than mine, i just got 0km/40l when i emptied my tank. The fuel was so stale it wouldn't run a lawnmower

Spoke to Mark this morning and the Elf E85 is selling here for $2.20/L - best rate so far I've found for 98RON blended E85 - and will also be available as an on course back up for THC anyways. Hopefully it goes well and we see them back as another supplier in Tas 2011 as well.

So I took Newtons EMO 4 for a spin up at DECA on the weekend.

Easiest car to drive fast I've ever driven - by a long way. Quite scary really.

I've driven lots of EMO's over the years but that was the first one thats made me think twice. The challenge now will be to make my new toy as close to being that good as possible. But it was a real eye opener into how good a pretty basic, low powered car can be. But it was a good lesson in that an easy car to drive fast is better than a fast car. It's just easier to build a fast car than it is the other way around!

I heard on the grape vine today that a Western Australian father of a former Joker is planning on building a number of homologated super EMO's with stroked engines, carbon fibre everything and sequential gearboxes to run at Targa 2011 with his #1 driver moving from the R35 to the new car.

Apparently you can have one for a cool $250K (or less if you provide your own "donar" car).

I concur. I think factory specials are ok but workshop specials are going a bit far.

But where then do you draw the line with things like the Skelta's / Daytona's etc.

It's all too hard - but the big boys with the cash are sure going to exploit it whilst they can I guess. Perhaps TQ will see if there is some way to homolagate his RSR.

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
