Benson's ignoring my calls and emails..... so i think it will likely be my first targa no-show in seven years.

I have a 1988 Corolla SR5, it's yours if you rally it LOL.

would only take us two or so days to "prep" it.

Change f**ked CV

Change f**ked shocks

Glue down dash mat.

Add TRD sticker.

lol.... well, I have it now!

I probably won't stick it in right away as I'm severly lacking in motivation these days, but it's there if I decide to.

you should have just bungged another wrecker motor in and kept racing. it gets depressing thinking that you could be out there racing but cbf rebuilding a whole car.

mines beenabout 9 months the seccond time around. id rater a going car in my shed any day.

That was the plan initially, but the wrecker motor I bought turned out not so flash, so decided to rebuild one from two. It hasn't been expensive, I've just had a lack of room, and as you know, pushing dead cars around soon becomes annoying and they go under a cover.

That Corrolla SR5 sounds well wicked..... the AWD is it's saviour, could give those dirty Emos a run I reckon!

Closey would know, I heard he LOVES rock hard......... oh, never mind.

Followed the tug boat captain[i know but its all the same] on a few transport stages when he had that VW. He was only on the road when he hit it... I remember at 150kph watching and saying to the Dr. dont think I would like to try to hustle in one of 'em.

Would like to get someone on the shox we run in the cup car[when on D03] for Targa. Travel, droop, and all things unheard of...

Couple of things to watch for, One is a great little incar gadget that lets other cars know when you stop on a stage - cant wait for that to be incorporated. I makes a Rally Safe.

Dunlop has a new tyre for club guys on the horizon too... Less $$$ with out a huge drop in performance.

Not long now...

Hey BW. You can always come and give me a hand with service. No money, but would be good craik.

TT

On other news our Gravel EVO 9 is back from getting tuned at MPC. just fiddly bits to do now before first round on the 19th.

Making some good power considering its running a restrictor. Antilag and Launch are very phat too :P Im actually scared to think how quick it will be on gravel comeing from a sprinkler!

Almost looking more forward to running in it than Targa!

Ah, you in with the fish f*>(er lol. I did a dash blank so he could plug up that hole... something about previous owner and hair dryer??? ;)

Only 1 sec a lap slower than d03's round Symmons I hear. should be good for club sprint at superlap.

Bring some CCTV gear to monitor your cars at night people. If SMAUG needs parts your cars WILL be stripped in a beer fueled haze of shenanigans! :) Meh, even if it doesn't need parts its always fun emptying a catch can under someone elses car only to see that car's owner sh1t themselves and spend hours trying to find the leak before "attempting" to turn over their car :)

Well I was going to wait till Dunlop at least got the test report/data

Yes, It definitely has the racing pedigree over pretty much anything out there ! LOL.

Look as it sits their majestically !

hmm I saw the Stevens emo on a hoist with no engine today.

if they dont get that car back together who will be in charge of cutting corners and bringing crap back onto the course?

quick up date on the rx-7 - the cost of the motec has now exceeded the purchase price of the car and it's not nearly finished yet!

...looks flash though, and thats the main thing!

i always miss you, anyhow. talk to you at targa.

im not suprised with the motec pricing. im surely going to upset a few people but in my actual experiance with motec i dont personly like them. im just a hater thoe.

i think bens going to cage out my 4 door to run targa now. its heaps nicer, comfy and quieter than the race car.

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
