I've always wondered if the poor condition of the roads is the reason they took the stages around Hobart out of the main Targa event. I drove down the first bit of the Longley stage this morning and yeah...its bit embarrassing. Has the potential to be an awesome road.

I was under the impression that it was to do with poor road conditions and lack of community/council support. Could be wrong though.

Toll is the way to bring your car and trailer to tassie. it's 1/2 the price of the spirit, and you can carry fuel (legally). You can only bring one person per car though, but you're still well ahead even with some cheap flights thrown in for the crew.

Someone else did have ABS failure, resulting in something more than locking brakes - still in hospital. Probably impolite to ask just now, but I'm assuming no HNR being worn....going by the fracture.

Oh and the 8 tyre rule seems a sop to the morbidly obese GTR, etc, in late and will entrench evos in EM. Make them carry em I say if they can't make the distance!

Unfortunately Toll is only in the region of $400 cheaper return...the whole bass straight xing is still a rip in my opinion seeing as if you're towing a caravan the spirit is only a couple of hundred bux return, yet mention a car trailer and you're looking at 1500+ incl accom.

Oh, and the spirit is conveniently upping their rates just before targa and dropping again not too soon after...

costs the same for a caravan as a car trailer its only motor homes that get cheaper rates

Yeh that one was kept pretty quiet,

and I think a big congrats needs to go out to CycloneGTR? I believe maiden victory?

Is that the Ric Shaw crash? Tarmac Mag's facebook page was the only place that had any details on the crash, they had a message that he was still on hospital last night.

Yeh thats the one I was referring to. The only place I heard ANYTHING about it was on Tarmac Mag's FB page

LOL - I'm not yet convinced it's going to be better than Buller - which is one of the best tarmac roads I've driven! :)

But having checked it out last weekend it's definitely a buzz (and better than Lake Mountain).

True, nicely done Cyclone! How is David, living in Noosa yet?

And my hat goes off to Eddie Macguire with Steve Glenney calling in Showroom 4WD, first tarmac rally, totally legal Aussie delivered 6 speed equiped Evo 8 GSR, 180kw ATW.... and smashed them senseless! Word from a strong competitor was "how the hell do we compete with THIS!?!?!)

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
