there are only 2 tuners in aus for hks f-con, as my mate has just got his front cut from jap with a f-con, there is one tuner in WA and one tuner in sydney, so if you live any other state it sucks as im sure these are a well built system, apparently there is a fair few problems with after market comps and them working well on auto's, but i cant reccomend one as i really dont know,

WTF ?

The emanage blue does a great job for what it is. Have you actually tried one ?

Whack the emanage on, someone who knows what they are doing will be able to get the car running great! With the Auto i would only suggest a emanage for anything thats not totally worked off its head, and even if it is.. go the Ultimate

agreed, i had a emanage blue tuned on my evo 6 & it drove great & made excellent power. little bit more than a evo 6.5/tme with slightly more mods & autronic. both tuned at asg in perth too.

OK, heres just my 2 cents.

You need to ask yourself these 2 Questions!!!

1. What are your power goals (200kw, 250kw, 300kw???)

2. Are you going to mod your car any further in the future?

These come in to factor of which ECU will bring out the full potential from your car and thus presenting you with your respected goals.

So here I say...find out what your typical goal is

Also what comes into perspective are

- Budget

- Reliability of engine ie. 300kw you will be lookin in investing further with your engine eg.bottom end.

So tell us these and i'm sure we could head you into the best direction

Cheers.

hey all just wanna know what the best ecu for a auto r 33 would be as im not too happy with the emanage blue capabilitys for tunning..also how much all up tuned thanks ppl

Give Hanson at XSpeed a call as they have some of the toughest Skylines in WA. His number is 08 9331 8088. He can even supply and fit a F-CON iS or the F-CON V Pro which both have automatic shift control.

I can only contribute to a process of elimination...

I have a HKS F-Con Pro-V but I can't recommend it because the expert tuner from Japan only comes here periodically;

despite it running well. I can't touch it!

Cheers, T

Seeing as you are close to Sydney I suggest you call Jim at Tunehouse. They have been appointed as the HKS Pro Dealer and can tune your F-CON computer. His number is 02 9557 4000.

You can also get this info from www.hks.com.au

Cheers

powerf fc's become too fidley at high hp/big airflow and 2 blokes i know have gone haltech with massive immediate improvements

both have gone from troubles in the low 400 hp with the power fc to 470hp and 510hp at the wheels with the haltech (510hp with rb25 and 470hp with rb2530 both with gt35r)

What kinda trouble are they getting?

There are easily 30 cars i can think of here over 350rwkw running PFC's without a problem (nismo AFM's in, off you go), be interesting to hear what the problems are that the people you know are having etc

tripple posts ashie lol

both cars have been 'home built' and tuned by the 1 tuner (both for the power fc and haltech). both have been tuned by the 1 tuner for max power and both have encountered similar problems with the power fc and both h ve only reached potential with no afm's and a haltech

the 510hp car made 503hp early on with the power fc but later on had mega issues & as explained (in above posts) and was easier to go to a MAP based ecu. and since both cars have had 0 issues, multiple track days and drag days later

hi 5 to autoworx

in the market for ecu myself soon

glad their is progression in aussie ideas!!

keepin it local!! :domokun:

i do like power fc comments though still undecided :domokun:

get the vipec from Alistair @ Autoworx and he will arrange lumpy to tune it refer W.A. section about the ecu

i have the first one in the state in my gtr and am really happy with the results

Hi Terry, sydneykid tells me that he knows a guy who is currently being trained to tune the F-Con Pro-V and he will be local too. If you check with sydneykid he can give you the exact details.

Interesting - do tell more!

SydneyKid - Care to elaborate on this?

Hey guys sorry to hi-jack the thread but i wondering what my best options are for an engine managment system as i running the stock ecu atm.

Car: 1995 R33 GTS skyline

Engine: Rb25-det

KKR480 Turbo

Apexi D1 dual panel pod filter

HKS SSQ bov

Hybrid FMIC with alloy piping

Greddy oil catch can

JJR Anodized red boost controller

Red silicone piping

Gear box: gts-t 5 speed manual box with heavy duty clutch

Exaust: Otomoto Dump pipe, Stainless Nismo Front pipe and 3” exhaust from cat back with super-cats Australia resonator

Why wont people understand that it all comes down to the tuner??? "Oh i just put a microtech in my car and it runs shit" its not the god damn computers fault the computer only does what its told to do! And the person who tells it what to do is the tuner!

thanks for that imput i understand that the ecu is only as good as the tuner just wondered what would be my best option for the modifications i have. i am looking around for a power fc atm. as i understand they are reasonably cheap, reliable and easy to tune and would support my modifications, hame

    • Jack the back of the car up, pull that wheel off, pull that sensor out, and put a bore scope into the hole to inspect the outer casing, see if anything looks damaged before you pull the whole thing apart.
    • Ergh... So I pulled the speed sensor out again and the tip was shiny so I think it's rubbing the bearing. The bearing contains the magnets for the speed sensor so I think when the first sensor broke it damaged the magnet ring on the bearing.  This is just a Google image, but there is a hole going to the bearing. So when the tip broke off the old sensor I'm guessing it fouled the bearing... As the magnet is only protected by a plastic cover it would be easy to damage it. So I guess I'm doing a bearing again.
    • My thinking is that if the O2 sensor is shot then your entire above described experience is pure placebo.
    • Here is the mess that I made. That filler there was successful in filling dents in that area. But in the middle area. I can feel dents. And I've gone ocer it multiple times with filler. And the filler is no longer there because i accidently sanded it away. I've chased my tail on this job but this is something else lol. So I'm gonna attempt filler one more time and if it doesn't work I'll just high fill primer the door and see where the issues are because guidecoat is of no use atm.
    • Ok, so I think I sort of figured out where I went wrong. So I definitely overthinked it, and I over sanded, which is probably a large part of the problem. to fix it, I ended up tapping some spots that were likely to be high, made them low, filled them in, and I tackled small sections at a time, and it feels a lot better.    I think what confused me as well is you have the bare metal, and some spots darker and some are lighter, and when I run my finger across it, it' would feel like it's a low spot, but I think it's just a transition in different texture from metal to body filler.    When your finger's sliding on the body filler, and crosses over to the bare metal, going back and forth, it feels like it's a low spot. So I kept putting filler there and sanding, but I think it was just a transition in texture, nothing to do with the low or high spot. But the panel's feels a lot better, and I'm just going to end up priming it, and then I'll block it after with guide coat.   Ended up wasting just about all of my filler on this damn door lol
