Hi all,

Had my 1997 RSFour on the rollers last week. Just thought Id post up the graph with a list of mods so we could maybe start a cross referance or something to see how eachothers cars are running and with what mods.

As said above mines a 1997 RSFour Mods are as follows:

  • Splitfire Coilpacks
  • HDI Frount Mount
  • Profec B spec II EBC High boost set at about 11psi
  • SAFC2

Was dynoed in RWD (front tailshaft removed)

I had my 98 RS Four S  on the Dyno a week ago for a couple of power runs. It has a GCG Hi flow, CES Racing split dump, high flow cat and a 3in cat back exhaust. According to the guy doing the Dyno it was hitting Boost cut at 14psi.

Good for a starting point I think. At least now I can go from here.. Forgot to mention it was done on an all-wheel drive Dyno.

I do need to post up my graph, and I saw nick post his today too. will update this thread when i post it elsewhere

mine was done on a 4wd dyno, 155kw

power mods are

power fc

12psi boost

turbo back 3" exhaust

splitfires

walbro fuel pump

standard intake, intercooler, injectors, afms etc etc. oh and manual conversion that probably gives me a couple of kw without the slushbox.

sssstagea you need to get a computer and tune asap. the standard computer responds very poorly to mods - 130awkw is not right for a highflow turbo running 14psi....your setup should be good for 170awkw+

looks like all the stageas have good midrange but poor top end compared to a skyline motor - fits with mark's theory that they have small cams compared to 33 gtst. we are going to do some back to back test with r33 series 2 cams shortly.

Comes back to the same 'rich retards' idea that I was getting with mine, I could feel the car pushing against the 'glass wall' because all the timing had been pulled out by the ECU and as soon as the engine neared the redline it was like a switch was flicked somewhere and all the timing came back for a last minute 'kick' before going back into slug mode again.

pics wont work since site update(lost my old avatar & gallery) added new pics to my gallery inc. dyno but cant upload.

ces s/s split f/dump ces exhaust.

greddy fmic.

mbc 10 psi.

safc neo.

k&n panel filter.

185.4kw front shaft removed.

I can't see your graph. Could you post up the KW please?

How are you regulating your boost? I guess you are on a budget like most of us or else you would have a Power FC or suchlike already but I would recommend getting a Jaycar Independent Electtronic Boost Controller or if you are just bypassing the solenoid reduce the size of the restrictor to lower boost. Mr car made 155AWKW (200bhp) with the stock turbo on 10.5 psi and i would expect to do quite a better with a GCG highflow. Have you still got the standard side mounted intercooler? If you car is a series II then maybe you already have the GTT SMIC otherwise that would be a worthwhile cheap and simple upgrade. There are two or three aftermarket options for the SMIC and I was luck enough to find a cheap second hand Trust one. But maybe first upgrade your fuel supply (pump and regulator) if you haven't already.

hi guys im just wondering if you guys who have put up dyno results of your stags are you running autos or manuals?? and are they s1 engines because the power figures seem to be a bit low for a neo . my 99 S2 RS4 stag with just a 2 1/2 inch exhaust turbosmart boost control , BOV and 5 speed manual with 10 psi ran this post-50654-1220741966_thumb.jpg

Yep your neo has a slightly bigger turbo and possibly different cam timing from my Series I auto which made 155AWKW (see above for chart). But when I install my IEBC etc and give it a tune I expect to get quite close to your figure.

Perhaps someone with access to FAST could compare the part numbers.

Sorry I can't tell you much about my setup due to only owning the car for about 2 months and not knowing anything about Turbo setups. The guy running the Dyno said that it hit boost cut at 14PSI, not sure if this is what it is running at all times. As far as I know it hasn't had anything done to change boost but looking at everything on this site it must have. I need to find someone that can point out any changes to my setup cause I don't know what looks normal and what doesn't. After reading through this site and getting myself confused on aftermaket engine management I ill also need to go to a workshop or speak to someone who can point me in the right directions. Would really love to find out more about if anything else has been done.

Going to the Gympie skidpan day so will talk to some people there and see what they say.

    • Hello all I have 2 r34 sedans , one turbo one na, only recently aquired the na 34.  Man what is with these things.... My turbo 34 started sounding like a super charger, it was screaming at anything above 4000rpm , I took the alternator apart and replaced the front bearing which is the only one I think you can access and it did not fix the issue so presumably the bearing in the rear of the alternator is gone. ( diagnosed it was the alternator by taking off the aux belts one by one to figure out which pulley or bearing it was )  My friend gave me one he had lying around, Installed it , it did not squeal for maybe 500kms and now its started to squeal again briefly on startup  Recently got an na r34 and I replaced the timing belt, water pump + all the auxillirary belts. Runs amazing but it suddenly developed the same squeaking problem but significantly worse, Ive had my neighbour come down screaming at me because it was waking her up everytime I moved the car. It takes a good 2 minutes before it quietens down.  Im yet to diagnose where its coming from but im fairly sure its coming from the alternator aswell. My question isnt about how to fix it but rather where can you get a new alternator for an rb25 neo??? Ive searched everywhere but I havent been able to find a direct fit oem type replacement thats not genuine. All the automotive stores sell an oex one - BXA035 - which I picked up for cheap through a friend with staff discount , got it home only to find the connector is completelty different.... As far as im aware bxa035 is for rb20/30's and after a bit of figuring out the bxa035 has an ev14 type connector, which is tiny compared to the rb25 connector. I actually had an ev14 connector lying around which I was considering just replacing the bigger plug with to get the alternator working but the bxa035 is rated for 70amp vs the rb25 alternators are 90amp ( or so ive been told ? ) That paired along with the fact im about to install an amp + sub in the back and I have the stock sized small battery Im not sure itll do the job unless anyone has another opinion?  I know and have seen all the websites selling the ls1 alternator conversion kit but I am not going down that route, nor do I have the money to. Hopefully I can figure out how to get 2 brand new alternators for both cars. I would buy second hand which there seems to be many of but considering how common this seems to be im sure If I installed a second hand one it would start squealing in no time  Or even better if anyone knows how to fix the issue directly with the alternator itself... Any input appreciated Thank you     Link for bxa035 connector picture
    • As above, replace as many as you can afford. If anything, due to old age.
    • Can confirm previous shop that built my motor had no fking clue about oil control and caused my motor to shit itself after two track days. Current shop, Birrong Automotive, has managed to build me a motor, not to mention, has also let me tune it myself and it has yet to blow up after 7 track days. Great oiling success, yashimash.
    • It definitely seems like you have no beef, with only digging up a 5 year old post, to comment on an inflammatory item with total insensitivity, and of which had nothing to do with the thread.  Yep, you definitely seem like a great person and your friends and family would be so proud to know of your lovely actions
    • Thanks buddy, so happy to be back! Managed to pickup a Unicorn R34 completely stock and clean. Looking forward to adding some goodies to it and posting one here. I'm shocked that so many forums stopped. If you could find my old profile - I'd love that if its possible. My old account was JET200GT. My email might need to be fixed too. To use this one. I think it was the same though..
