Hi all

On behalf of the ACT Supra Club I am trying to gauge who might be interested in coming to a private track day at Western Sydney International Dragway (WSID) for a Supra v Skyline event held by the ACT Supra Club. We will try and have this event sometime this year (at the worst, early next year) with the prospect of running it as an Annual Event.

At a minimum we will require at least 40 cars to keep the cost down to $200 per entrant. We are trying to keep this to 20 cars of each model. A deposit will be required to reserve your spot for the event within 8 weeks of the event start date. The full amount is required by no later than 4 weeks of the event start date and is non refundable. If you are unable to attend the event after you have paid the full amount then you will have to find a replacement car of the same model car as your own.

What I would like to get from you all is if there is a minimum of 20 Skyline’s here that may be interested in participating in this event. It would be great if we could get 10 from NSW and 10 from the ACT.

As stated earlier, this is a private track day and it is limited to the following access for drivers, crew and spectators:

1 driver will be allowed two crew members and 3 guests/spectators. Basically, each driver can have no more that 5 people excluding themselves, therefore limiting the day to a possible 240 people.

In line with the mandatory rules of WSID, some of the other rules we have been thinking of are:

1. This event is restricted to Supra's and Skyline's only, sorry no exceptions!!

2. All cars must be street registered.

3. All cars are limited to no more than semi-slick tyres.

If there is a car that does not comply with any of the above additional rules but intends on joining us for the day then this car will be excluded from all prizes.

Depending on sponsor availability, there will be prizes available.

Some additional details of the proposed day are:

When: Sunday Date to be finalised

Where: Western Sydney International Dragway

Start time: 8:00 am to 10:00 am for scrutineering

Finish time: 4:00 pm for drivers briefing

Cheers

Ross

I don't think you can edit posts now Ross.

Anyway I always said I would be in on this and I know some cheap local accommodation.

So long as the money is guaranteed to be returned if the event does not go ahead or you have to change dates unexpectedly and we can not make the new date (we had some trouble with paintball). Yes I'm in.

Please let us know of any requirements for the car (Fire extinguisher etc).

Hope you posted in NSW section

I totally understand that the price is a little on the expensive side, but please note that this is for a full day of drag racing for up to 40 vehicles. So if your car is totally unbreakable you can expect a bucket load of runs. I went to WSID a couple of months ago for Wicket Wednesday and only got 4 runs for my $50 and that was no where near enough for me.

I'm in the process of obtaining sponsors to assist with reducing the cost of the day and also prizes for specific classess. eg Naturally Aspirated, standard turbo, aftermarket turbo, burnout, top Supra & Skyline etc....

If 40 cars cannot be obtained then the cost will blow out, that's why I need an indication of who might be interested and if you budget $200 just for racing and if we can be assured of 40 cars, then the price will only get cheaper.

I now have two dates that are available for this year.

Sunday 16 November

Sunday 21 December

The December date might be too hot for the turbo cars, so I would rather doing this in November if possible.

I'll put a post in the NSW section now.

Cheers

Ross

To give you guys who dont like the price it cost $50 on a Wednesday you get 3-4 runs max. I have been with Rotary/SAUNSW drag day and seen people get up 30+ runs so for the number of runs you get the price is cheap plus there will be like minded people there to help you get your times down.

Hi guys,

Just a quick update for you.

So far from what I can see is that from the NSW Skyline owners, there are 9 interested people pending date. In the ACT we have 1 (John) and 2 that are not happy about the price.........

Looks like this event might be NSW Skyline's v ACT Supra's as I'm having the same problems with the NSW Supra Owner's.......

Guys/gals, I've done the hard work so far, all you need to do is say you're in or out.......

    • What bedding in procedure did you use?   When you say stutter, what exactly do you mean? Like it feels like someone letting go of the brakes momentarily and regrabbing them again to get you to stop? Re-reading your post, and that is what it kind of makes me think you're explaining, like theres a little bit of a jolt, likely just as you're reaching a stop. I've only had this issue once. And if its caused by what caused mine, you will want to get the car up on stands again and check it over. Mine was a case of a caliper mounting bolt coming out and letting the caliper rotate on the other remaining bolt and gave play in a wheel as it came to a stop. But not every stop either!
    • Yeop... binned it   This will be a summary will not many pics atm and cbf  Fixed the samsonas - it was totally munched Put a new precision 7675 T4 on with proper split pulse mani Got to Sydney to get to car - drove to canberra to get racecar - drive back to sydney that night Next day all day at Plasmaman putting on new clamps cleaning some things up and adding another large engine oil cooler sitting at the rear above diffuser to keep things cooler Next day - Tuesday - on Dyno - killer wikid awesome pumped out really good numbers - more mid range and on lower boost levels Wednesday - first prac - all day again getting the suspension right - had to borrow front suspension again - out do a lap come in - out do a lap - in - what i had just couldnt handle the load at the more consistent higher speeds - got a lap in at the end of the day that was pretty reasonable  Put it this way that lap wouldve had me in 4th in Pro am for the whole event - with only 700 hp and used tyres Thurs first official prac day - lap out warm up - then entered a hotlap with above setting and 80% effort took corners 1,2,3 and into 4 car felt awesome -  rear came around out of nowhere bang into the wall near front on at whatever 140 kmph Done, over, gone Just one of those how did that happen apparently as all indications show nothing out of the ordinary Got to spend the rest of the time at the event like I hadnt done before - was actually Ok mainly as I had my family and my boy is 9 and got treated like a rockstar Long trip home, lost a trailer wheel in nowhere land, X5 airbag suspension gave up half way across nullabour and rode on bumps stops (its now completely fine) had to do a 19 hr drive day on day 3 as accommodation got screwed up so just had to keep driving till found a town with some Now to reassess - hopefully the motor and other things are OK but yet to be seen too. There is no easy fix there is no i'll just order that part and get it sent - we'll have a talk to people see what can happen and what the go is but at minimum its rebuild from scratch struts forward and alot of time effort and $ should and if I return and if but maybe/ when  I have the cage tied into the front strut towers - if I didnt have that things couldnt been worse you can say its just a front end but if you know what goes into these cars... you'll know what that actually means in reality   Car was very fast. Disappointing we just didnt get to show it Effort doesnt win you races though     Apparently this is motorsport !
    • Thanks, will do that.  Thankfully they still feel great.
    • Yeah man, absolutely. You can try pushing me all the way in swapping the R34 for an E9x M3
    • It's almost certainly going to be some amount of pads compound transfer onto the rotors. It will probably go away after you've run them for a bit. If not, pull it all out, lightly sand the rotors, scuff the pads, and rebed.
