N1GTR and Das Kamu, just to clarify, what exactly are you looking for - C210, C211, 240K, coupe or sedan, and what kind of condition, grandpa-spec original, rusty project etc? If I am right N1GTR is hoping for a 240k coupe, and Jason would prefer a c210 or c211 of some sort. There are still cars around in Victoria, but it's bordering on pot luck as to what kind of shape its in. I'm happy to keep a look out and ask around if I know what you want.

hey im on the look out for -

c110's sedan and coupe (preferably coupe)

C210's sedan and coupe - c210 take precedent over 110

body condition has to be at least semi together ill consider most things

would prefer a grandpa spec c210 coupe or sedan over all though ........

would be awesome if you could keep the eyes peeled mate

im yet to go to a wreckers past ipswich (QLD) seems there may be a datsun selection there?

ill take pics whilst there

Hey Drew that would be awesome

You're right, im after a 2door, i want to end up with a replica (albeit rb26 with big single turbo powered) one of these;

(this is the same series of pics i have on the walls at the office  )

Got the motor, turbo and random other parts waiting like brakes etc. Not looking for as much power as my r32, just 300rwkw will do this project - the power to weight will be entertaining

Drew i dont mind if its "seen better days", id actually prefer that as the price should be lower and im not paying for something i dont need (although beggars cant be choosers). The whole body will be stripped and built from the ground up, half cage to stiffen it up and have a bit of "not just another nice looking classic", newer style seats, no rear seats (new moulded carpet instead), all new dials etc. Really the parts that matter for the interior are; dash, door trims, sun visors, gearshift surround (hopefully the gearbox will line up with that, if not ill cross that bridge later), pillar garnishs. If the motor is on its lasts legs thats cool too, im not fussed either way

Thanks :)

Yeah i know it will have some old school technology :D Its not the path anyone would go down for a car that handled well - you'd go and spend the money on something much newer starting at S13 :(

haha i thought it was possible once too... then i went and bought an AE86. engine swap and lots of power later, it still felt like a car out of the 80's. I can only imagine what something from the 70's would be like as a performance car. I'd still own a C10 or C110, but it'd have to be as close to original as possible, or the mods have to be from the same period.... so I'm talking Kakimoto 3.1L L series engine with sweet raspy trumpets on the carbs or something.

Also keep in mind as soon as you drop a newer engine into the car you'll have to adhere to newer EPA regulations. If you have an older engine you could pretty much run a straight pipe all day long and no one can do anything about it.

In any case... if you want something from that era and cheap why not go for a 260Z or a 240Z if you can find one cheap?

lol a straight pipe isnt going to happen. But i know what you mean, it wont be easy to keep it legal (need to do brakes and whatever else cause of power to weight to give it a chance of being engineered), thats actually something ill be looking further into over the next few weeks - if you put an rb26 into a 1970's car i would assume you have to abide by the regs of, mmm, lets say its a 1989 motor :D

But then the rta being rta i wouldnt be suprised if there's a law in there that says it has to abide by emissions later than 1989

Dont forget the gtr and supra are still here, so they can do all the "cornering" duties :(

I'm also looking for a 2 door ( I have a 4 door ), but been in Tassie, it makes it a lot harder to find one here

ugh... you do realise it'll still sport a solid rear axle right? and it handles like... well... a 1970's car.

Drew, Steve (N1GTR) is after a C110 coupe so he can build a Ken Mary GTR replica.

If you are talking about the "C110 coupe" as having a "solid rear axle", then you don't know much about them, mine and all the rest have independent rear end.

they dont have a solid axle........

Nope fully Independent rear end, I know of one guy in i think qld who put a z31 or z32 rear end in, but he's spent heaps on his car, and it will be grouse,

Right. Im on the lookout for grandpa's C210 and a couple of project 240K coupes. I have a couple of leads.

On the topic, I am happy with the way my white C210 handles, and I'm not afraid to throw it around some. Fingers crossed Ill finally get to do some entry level motorsport with the NSDOC this year.

    • Yeah not sure. I sourced another relay no problem, its definitely a relay according to Nissan parts, they used those specific relays on a bunch if cars around that time, but my two options are, find a behind dash wiring loom which is proving difficult, or get the current loom fixed up by the shop when they put my rebuilt engine back in, they are confident in their auto electrical abilities. Thing is my current loom has anti-theft stuff and GPS immobilisers wired into it so easiest option may be to just fix the current one to save ripping apart the immobiliser.
    • Took it apart to get to the bearing found out i was wrong the bearing was pressed on to the diff side and the part i removed only had the bearing side, checked the bearing all looked fine took the shaft end to a shop and they recon it was movement from back and forth that made the marks and not rumbling about, so i just changed the seal and put it all back again.
    • Oh dear. That's um. There's like. Um. a lot of bare wires there. Take the whole thing out. Something is very very shorted somewhere. IT IS NOT CAUSED BY THAT "RELAY" (assuming it is a relay).
    • Hey all. Had a bit of a scare today with my R34 GTT when i flicked on the tail/parker lights, and  some wiring started going up in smoke under the dash. The fuse didnt blow, it just melted the casing of the fuse so must have been a crap fuse? Previous owner did alot of wiring, some of which is quite sub par and the fuse that melted was definitely newer than the other ones that were in the fuse box, but didnt seem that he touched the wires that mainly got melted. Anyway may need a small section of a new loom, is there lots of similarities between the turbo and non turbo looms especially for under the dash stuff? The wired that got friend go into a 6 pin relay under the dash. The non turbo ones are less than half the price here from a wrecker and all i would need it the section that got fried and any other wires that are affected.  Thanks in advance
