i got a dayz bumper and spotties and iv'e just finished fitting the lights up but they dont work... i used all original wiring and plugged it into the loom where it's supposed to go but no joy. has anyone hooked these up before?

the car used to have a rear foglight and that's what the second position on the foglight switch was for... maybe a plug under the dash needs to be swapped? does anyone have an S2 wiring diagram that could confirm this before i go digging under there for loose plugs?

also, can anyone tell me what the relay is in the fuse box, bottom row middle? cover says headlights but there was no relay in there on my RS4s (there's about 3 other headlight relays) but on my auto parts car, there was a brown one in there and no other ones... put the brown relay in my car but it did nothing. could this be part of the spotlight setup?

Mine has a second switch in the dash that controls which fog lights you want to use.. I can't have the fog lights in the bumper on at the same time as the spot lights. The switch make you choose one or the other! So it might be something along those lines! You might need to second switch.

cheers.... have you got a pic of this button? anyone else's the same? the only other one i've ever seen with the spotties has them controlled from the light stalk.

  • 8 months later...

ok i'm digging this up coz i got bored today and did a bunch of stuff on the car and it got me looking at it again...

i've traced the wires in the engine bay to an empty plug under the dash where the looms meet behind the fuse box (shown in the pic) but i cant see a plug anywhere to put in it!

can someone with dayz spotlights please have a look under their dash for me and see if there's anything in this socket, where it goes, where it joins into the loom and what colour the wires are???

also, in the second pic, the plug circled in yellow, can someone that doesn't have a rear fog light (red bit where the second reversing light should be in the taillights) check to see if there's anything plugged in there??

another request, can someone with fast have a look for the dayz lights and see if it shows any of the loom ad-ons/extra wires/switches associated with them? the plugs were in the factory loom in the engine bay for the ad-on loom with the relays in it to control the lights and i have the extra spot on my light stalk to control the rear fog light i used to have.

the car i got the lights from (rubyRS4), had both a rear fog light and the spotlights and they were both controlled from the same position on the switch... if someone has a wiring diagram or pinout for an S2 stag, i need a copy to figure this out!

D.

slightly, that seems to show the setup as to be installed by the dealer with the extra switch some people have... i'm trying to avoid using the extra switch as i know some are controlled by the light/indicator stalk. problem is, the wires from the stalk just disappear into the main ignition loom and i dont know where they come out

D.

do you want the spotties on at the same time as the foggies? if so cant you just tap into the exsiting fog light wiring? not sure if this is what you ment but hopefully its an idea.

yeh that's what i'm trying to achieve but i have the second position on the fog switch that is supposed to control them so first position is just foggies on and second position is both on. that's what i'm after... if all else fails ill just find the control wire from the stalk that used to control the rear fog light and re-direct it the the spotties but i'd like to see if i can do it all as per factory before just bypassing things. i really need a wiring diagram..... do they exist?

D.

Hey mate, sorry for late reply.

I think my car is the correct donor to check under the dash. I have no rear fog light, and have got DAYZ spotties fitted.

I will have a look for you now and see if there any differences.

jez

yes thankyou it does, now i just need someone with the lights controlled from the stalk that doesn't have the extra switch to do the same..... i now know for sure that the plug is for the lights and it requires another add-on loom thing, now i just need to see how the system works without the extra switch.

interesting find tho.....

thats the bit of plastic that is under the steering collumn and the square bit looks to be a mounting spot for the extra switch... planned for from the factory.....

my advice would be just to do your own wiring - use the factory switch to run a relay.

you can buy pre-made relay harnesses off the net like this, very cheap, and quality is better than you could make yourself using bought parts.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
