dragging up a oldish thread...

next to no one is running the new system (E1280S) besides a few test cars down south as its only just been officially released onto the market.... price wired in is something between 2 and 3 grand...

Shit i heard around $1600 from some forum, i think boostcruising.

I'm waiting on its release and testing till i put it on my motor. Just think no point in running a big motor with 1000cc inj with e85 on a batch fire system. Plus i hope it has features like water pump and fan control and hopefully boost and the like. I just want one thing to run the whole car!! If not might go to ViPec or haltech.

I can't believe all the guys using old ones were sitting with their eyes shut and their hands over their eyes shouting that batch fire injection and wasted spark ignition is acceptable from a $1500 ecu in this day and age, and with no temp compensation as andriano pointed out you are risking massive changes in acutal AFR as air density changes so much with temp changes. in this day an age why you would use an ecu with only 4 ign and inj drivers on a six cylinder car is beyond me. there are plenty of good choices for fair money that can PROPERLY run a 6 cylinder engine without having to resort to batch fire and wasted spark. like trent says that pretty much limits their use as a decent entry level ecu for 4 cylinder cars only.

their new model if it has at least 6 drivers for inj and ign will be more useful but at $3,000 it has some pretty stiff competition....

yeah the new one does Beer-man,

the very things you mentioned is why I didnt get one, considering that e85 is around the corner, I didnt want to atempt to run 1200+ cc injectors in batch fire mode

Richard - You will recognise this username from GTIROZ... :P

E1280S can run 12 ignition outputs and 12 injectors or so (would have to confirm both figures) hence the 12 part of the model.... According to one of my best mates who is the NQ adaptronic installer/tuner/reseller it can be completely customized to the point, yuo can write a macro system for it that say at 49ºC it wont let the car reach 5000rpm but at 50ºc it can to go to limiter etc....

This is all being reproduced by me but thats how it was explained to me by Jason.

Oh and this time instead of hte shitty connectors it has a moulded plug (much like a factory unit).

they are branding it as a "Supercomputer" since it can have functions written into it!

The entry level ecu from them has fan control, boost control.... i know this as i have actually had to use the software interface to set a fair bit of that!

oh and it actually has different modes of firing its just relative to which one goes to each motor for them...

that price might have been unit alone..... the price i said was wired in and everything done and dusted :P

    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂
