Safe Parking For Gig At Gaelic Club

As title says - keen on a gig at the Gaelic Club.

Surry Hills

NSW 2011

I know jacksh1t about Sydney suburbs (except some of the generally better known ones, eg Kings X)

Gig is on a weekend evening. Anyone know if there's a decent place to park around there? thanks in advance.

None of the "Secure" parking places are particularly secure. There's plenty of cars that have been stolen from secure parking places before.. Often the most secure place is on the busiest street possible.. Most theives arent dumb enough to steal a car parked where there are a lot of cops patrolling for example. Although the busier the street the more dickheads walk past, and you know what that means

there used to be days where youd hear an alarm go off see some people running down the road, then hear another alarm go off down the road haha

I usually take my ute when I park there.. I wouldn't leave a skyline out there.

Its not the safest place to park, but its not bad. I would leave my car(r33) around there. If you have an r34 gtr or something that stands out heaps then maybe not.

As long as you hide valuables I doubt anything would happen to your car. If i park there I try and get as much of a publicly visible spot as possible to reduce risk.

The club I used to frequent was on the corner of Broadway and Harris St, so I found the best place to park if one so happened to be designated driver was behind Ultimo TAFE. Free parking in between 6PM and 6AM if memory serves me... it is on the street though and it is a little bit of a hike to the Gaelic.

I dont know what you do on the weekends but alarms are going off there every friday and saturday night. got a friend on surry street and another on victoria,,,, if its not getting stolen its just getting windows punched out by drunks.... its still too close to the cross, also good luck driving a skyline through surry hills and forget it if you have to go through the back streets and avoid lane ways at all cost, took me 5 minutes to get through this dip in a lane way, had to put a shit load of things under the front tyres to jack the front of the car up enough just to get over a stupid dip.....

and id rather park my line in surry hills than ultimo behind the tafe, had my kia rio broken into twice parking there during the day while attending the tafe (nothing stolen because nothing was in the car idiots) also got jumped there by a junky and i f**ked him up so i dunno if he jumps people there anymore.... also just go for a walk on the streets around tafe, uts, braordway..... look in the gutters and on the street and you will see your answer as to how safe it is..... broken safety glass everywhere......

safest place in/near the city is the casino, at least they have security that will wonder through there every now and then because there looking for kids locked in the cars lol, no secure parking station is safe and no street parking is safe in the city, some drunk might jump on your car or throw stuff at it during a fight.....

use pub transport if your worried about the car there....

yeah I live about 80 meters from devonshire st and I have to say it's not a safe area at all. too much housing commission up devonshire st....

on the plus side the gaelic club is approx 15 meters from central station so train is easy.
