Winfield Racing / Gibson Mototsport GT-R on the track again 18/08/02 Eastern Creek

Recommended Posts

Well, the GTR came out on the track after all :(:D:D

that thing sounds sooooooo nice!!

I was standing right next to it when they fired it up *drool*

pics are here

hehe yeah i know Birty, pretty cool ey? :P

Most people were there for the other cars....so there was hardly any crowds around it at all (strange...but true! silly people LOL). See the pic where it's driving thru the other cars back to the shed...no one's paying it any attention!!

I even heard one guy say "is that one of those cars that raced at Bathurst ages ago?" :(

It sounded SO tough on the track :D:D

hey shell

mate, how good was the bloody godzilla? that thing sounded tops when it flew down the straight. i wonder what sort of speed he reached. i was having a chat to mark hooker (guy in the pics next to the car with the winfield shirt) and he said the owner of godzilla owns the famous exa and two hr31's. what a beautiful car the r32 is. shat all over that falcon with the silly paintjob. shame there was hardly any nissans there, besides the 300zx's in the Z Car Club stand. that r32 was the highlight of the day - why there was hardly anyone checking it out, i have NO idea! stupid bastards. we gotta get some nissans together at that nissan cruise at the end of the month.

cheers, MARK

yea it sounded good alright just made me want to rip of all the mufflers of my r and drive around near re-line

Big thanks to Darren (CressidaV8 from Performanceforums.com) who came to the rescue and supplied the required 1" drive 600 ft/lb torque wrench needed to tighten the wheel nut on each wheel. ( these tools are about $1800 each, hence they are not in your average tool kit)

in full race trim, they used to tighten the nuts to about 800 ft/lb of torque ( yes, that's LOTS)

Terry told me if it was raining also that we wouldn't be taking it out (remember the last time it was driven on a race track, in the rain what happened ( refer Bathurst 1992 video) :P:) ) - understandably, Terry did not want to damage the car.

I didn't get there until it was just going out, so didn't get to install the camera after all.... there is always NEXT time :)

It will be on the track again shortly - (not sure if it is for public knowledge yet) - but as soon as it's announced I will let you knwo

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣
    • You’ll be very upset when you bust that too not to mention the gearing totally sucks. Don’t do it.
    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
