Your standard type of High Flow Cat is usually a ceramic internal type, where the dearer Catco, X-Force and BPM 'Metal' or 'Metallic' Cats use a stainless biscuit core and flow a lot higher.

There is NOTHING wrong with X-Force Cats as above, dependent of course on the vehicle and its level of modification.

For the price, I don't think you can go wrong, and I have used one on my old GTS-T and had no problems at all with a significant performance gain.

I would say depending on your level of mods and how far you want to go... go a metal one... I bought a ceramic highflow... put it on... previously I had a gutted cat (straight through- all the inside bits taken out for max flow) going from that to xforce's ceramic was a massive step down...car lost a lot of power... but once again.. depends on how powerful your car is.

regards,

Adam

I might be able to help on this matter. I have an xforce ceramic bolt in cat on my car at the moment. I recently bought a "metalcat" weld in cat. getting it welded in on friday, getting the car re tuned on saturday, so ill post up a before and after dyno graph. I wouldnt imagine a BIG difference in power, but we shall see.

i got full turbo back exhaust with x force high flow cat, think flow was rated at 570-600.... very good upgrade, very noticable power gain great sound.... the cat was about $150

300ish extra cfm can flow thru the cat now, should probably see a bit, it will probably be noticeable.. cant wait for the results anyway

xforce make a cat that is about double than close to double that flow and price too, check to see if you got the oval type? or the higher flow racing cat (round barrel style)

I agree that it depends on mods, i have a hi flow (hi flow front vg30 rear) blitz fmic, jjr split one piece dump with a 3" the rest of the way, apart from the cat, that was still the factory 2.5", put the x-force ceramic cat in today, got rid of a mis i had (although i also did the cam belt no idea if that would have helped) power is now more crisp, boosts a little earlier and harder and is also a little quieter when idling, i would say they are a good thing, that being said my next engine im hunting for 300-350rwkw and will probably upgrade or remove the cat completely.

WRONG!

Have a full xforce exhaust, including cat. Running over 400hp on an rb25 for 3 years. What more could you ask for??? Flows well, good value for money.

Not wrong.

I put a 3" supposedly "high flow" Xforce cat in to go over the pits and it was crap. Loss of power and response, felt like crap to drive, took it out as soon as I got home.

I was trying to push 3L worth of exhaust gasses through it though.

Which cat are you running? a "High flow"? or a "Race" cat?

And if you went from a stock exhaust to a full Xforce exhaust then yes, it is going to feel a lot better but you have nothing but a stock exhaust to compare it to.

^^^ agreed

I took my HI FLOW x-force cat out for de-cat and perfromance gain was heaps better.

I haven't tried the race cat one with higher flow but i am sure they would be alot better much like a de-cat

    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
