Well after the happenings of the weekend i was worried about being out and about today. Hardly an import on the roads and hardly any cops either. Im guessing maybe having a sedan is a bit of a blessing, but thinking a daily might be a wise choice

I'm still driving the Stagea around. But I am considering a daily. Not due to the weekend's events, but just to have a cheaper runabout. Possibly a twin cab ute so I can use it for the run around for the house extension. :D

I posted this in another thread and thought i should pop it in here as well. It happend on Friday night.

Also spotted me getting chased down by the popo last night and getting pulled over. They had a report of a car like mine excessively speeding somewhere, so when i dove past them parked on the side of south road they gave chase. They asked if i was the one speeding and i said no. Checked my licence, rego, etc etc, but didn't bother looking under the bonnet and didn't say anything about the half cage and semi's on the rear. :D

got defected last night again on port road... cop was a cock as uisually... he said that next time i get defected i wont be able to renew my registration (yea right)... and that I'll lose my license (wtf)... and yea, apparently i have aftermarket brake cylinder lol   ... i just stayed quiet all the time and said 'have a good night officer' at the end lol

oh and yea, i tested positive for meth twice lol... then 3rd time it tested negative

lol i tested positive for weed once. those tests are acurate as f**k lol

I dunno what it is, but whenever I get pulled over they bretho me but never test me for weed... what are they trying to say, that I look like an alcoholic?

Yeah OK fair point :|

just though id add this to the stupid things to be defected for; today went to regency because i was defected for wide wheels, too low and a steering wheel. Ended up coming out with a defect for a missing brake line clip in the engine bay, a rubber gromet missing around some wiring in my engine bay, and apparently my exhaust was too loud.

Just to add, my car had a full tier3 and roadworthy inspection done less than 6 months ago, where none of these issues were picked up. And my exhaust read 86db, whereas now he said it was 96 :ermm::D

regency inspectors are awesome :P

Yeah, I think the Regency inspectors are becoming hard asses. Mate took his skyline in. Got defected for something. Then got that fixed and they did him for to loud. He returned 2 more times, each time they were failing him for single items one of which was the passenger seatbelt was twisted.

is was my understanding that once you got 'the list' they couldn't keep adding to it

+1

Once the initial raping has been carried out; If you have a list the next time you go there they will only check whats on the list.

    • Driveline vibration is resolved. I ended up loosening all my engine mount and trans mount bolts, giving it a good shake then retightening everything and it's gone... Let's just say I was surprised that fixed it.  I've been happily driving it around again but unfortunately put zero time into my direct port/constant pressure WMI setup. I'm on vacation next week, so I'll try and finalize it then.  On a different note, I spent all week fuel/ignition mapping 2x 216L V16 engines. Turbo's were burning glycol and we swapped them out for larger units. We also had planned emissions testing on site, so I figured I'd be there the same week to use their instrumentation and massage any emissions issues out if needed. This was a first for me. Fuel management is similar in certain ways to automotive (i.e air density as load variable) but very different in others. It's all PLC based and AFR's are controlled by air and not fuel. They use a control valve between the turbo and air manifold to control pressure which in turn controls AFR's. Due to this, target AFR tables supplied by the OEM are in pressures and not mass which really through me off. They use air pressure vs fuel pressure tables. I also relied on an O2 concentration sensor the emissions team had in the exhaust. Ignition timing was also all over the place and we were losing a fair bit of power. They're now happily sitting at 16-40BTDC depending on load. We were making about 1600kw at 900rpm at 90% load. Engines were running a lot smoother as well.
    • heh, aint no R32 ever meeting modern targa cage rules unless the driver is veeeery short OP, good luck with the sale, since its already in the land of freedom I'm sure you will find a good buyer.
    • meh, it was a good video, clear about the issue and how he dealt with it. A bit heavy on the RTV and very brave to put an RB in anything without rebuilding it first, but otherwise I thought it was good Dose, I'm not sure that having the pickup forward is a big issue; yes of course the oil could shift under brakes but the sump should never be empty enough for that to be a problem (unless you also have a higher volume oil pump, and that oil can't return from the head to the sump quickly enough)
    • I can donate $100 to your upgrade fund. So long as you can donate the IC7 my way....
    • I'd love a Haltech ECU, and Haltech 10 dash. Was having a chat with Rob and Andy @ Haltech when Rob put one in his MR2. First one I'm kind of interested in too, as you can dim it RIGHT down. Andy was saying bright dashes is one of his peeves too!
