how did u go m8? ...i failed

ride height was apparently too low even tho its stock and i passed with exactly same suspension setup 2 months ago... then apparently blue globes are illegal - wtf... and a little piece of rubber that goes onto engine mount had a small crack on it...

i know i shouldnt, but i lost my temper and told the guy that it all bs... he also wanted to defect me for not having all 4 screws in my front number plate, but i got so pissed off at him that he asked for second opinion and eventually let it go...

i swear regency is fkn tough now...

sorry mate, didnt have much time to talk to u there... i was late coz i got locked in my own backyard lol

Yeah i passed but second time through mate....it was good to at least say hello i guess...I had to change my rear left strut, tie rod end boots, and get the brake lines secured with a hose clamp....so i took a quick trip to Sinergy....the guys there are top blokes....they were flat out and still were able to help me with a rear left strut and fix all the other shit...so back to regency i went and presto they rechecked it and i passed....the guys that i had at regency were very nice and answered all my questions to clear things up a bit for me etc etc...they did tell me about your situation Rok....and yes they do read these forums boys n girls

yeah, the two guys that did ur car are good blokes... i know almost all regency people lol... i was unlucky enough to get that old geezer...

even though we had a bit of a discussion/argument of my front struts not having those clips that the brake lines bolt up to and saying that it needs to be bolted up....its standard r33 suspension...so the conclusion of it needs to be secured with a hose clamp was a good result for both of us....

well done getting off defect!

and damn, whats with all these bad stories? the two different guys I've had were absolute champs!

guess its my tall and charming appearance that works every time??

so Krishy did you have your appointment they tell you fix A B C and that day you went to sinergy and they fixed and you went back to regency without another appointment and they cleared you?

Spot on Steve

When they boys redefected me at regency....they said get these sorted out....drove to sinergy and told them to fix it all up for me....went back and its a same day recheck so costs nothing....i am very vey thankful for the boys at regency for giving me an extra 30 mins yesterday to get back for recheck....

Cheers Luke and Rick

Booked my revisit for Thursday at 3:40. Gonna take it to the cop shop so I can atleast drive it. If I go down there with a hi-flow cat and its loud, will they defect me for it? Or will they just put it on the hoist and check off the stuff I failed for the first time? This baffle plate cannot be good for this car, its so slow the turbo barely spools.

u mean this thursday (16th)?... coz my recheck's this thursday at 3:40 too

Yeah this Thursday :P

I heard a little rumour from a good friend of my dad who used to work at Regency. Apparently a young driver went to Regency and he had a few little things wrong with his car but the inspector gave him the benefit of the doubt and passed him. Not long after he was in a car accident and his family is now taking Regency to court because they passed it when they shouldn't have. So I think now they are just failing for everything they find to cover the ass.

If it is actually true that is.

the yellow one and the red one are both same Rok

lol your car might have been sitting too low lol....didnt have a problem with getting my barge on there

they are almost exactly same, but i've been on both and i think red one is slightly less steep to get on it... i always hit my front bar on yellow one had no problems getting on red one. but it wont matter much next thursday coz im putting stock springs on lol

when i took mine in last year i only had to drive over the pit where the trucks usually go, no ramps

According to the guy that was inspecting your car...that if your ride height was fine then he might have let you off on that one

Yeap i have been on both....hoist and pit bays

depends on the day really as to what you get....

    • Hey crew, Failed my WOF cause of a lower control arm, and I've decided to hit both arms, and also the compression rods at the same time(seems they're gonna be the most likely upcoming failure points from some discussions with the lads over on the G35 reddit). I've looking at these form Z1:  https://www.z1motorsports.com/front-suspension/hayaku-automotive/hayaku-g35-front-compression-rod-p-40716.html https://www.z1motorsports.com/front-suspension/hayaku-automotive/hayaku-g35-front-lower-control-arm-p-40674.html I asked Z1 if they'd work as it's the same platform, just RHD vs LHD. I basically got told "Lol dunno". Specifically they aren't aware of any difference but can't guarantee fitment as they haven't done it on a 350GT. So guess I'm asking is if there is any issues with using 2005 G35 coupe suspension parts on a 2005 350GT coupe? Orginally I thought it could be something in the way of the arms that each control arm is designed to be positioned around, but that'd be an engineering nightmare for Nissan needing two different shaped control arms 😅
    • ^ This. The mode door actuator is a common failure, as is the actuator and/or the actual valve for the coolant flow control valve. I also don't know how available the mode door actuator is these days. I've been meaning to look into it and get one from wherever is possible, to keep in the shed for the rainy day when mine eventually fails. Anyway, the advice to you is to search the usual NOS part supply places, or even just go to Nissan and see what they list.
    • Have you got a pic of the actuator? My guess is that unit has failed internally and was flopping around, so the previous engineer who owned it forced it to be fully open to cold air (blocking the heater core path). As far as you can tell, is anything else wrong in the system? Likely you just need a new actuator (not sure how available they are) and then "installation is the reverse of disassembly"
    • I'm happy with the Lsailt unit that I put in, it puts full Android on the top screen so you can run whatever Nav and other Apps you want, while still existing inside the factory functionality like automatic reverse cams, audio input switching, retains factory bluetooth etc. Not cheap and the install was moderate (not simple, not hard) Yours is a V36 not V37 though right?
    • Yeap, all the NC's that I originally looked at that had a hard top were PRHT, which makes the roof line look horrible, hence why I said nope to them My only caveat for another MX5 was it needed to have a hard top, and initially I didn't think you could get a detachable hard top for the NC,  like my NB had Again, a big thanks to Matty for helping me source the detachable hard top for my little girl, they are as rare as hens teeth in Australia, and the few people who have them, keep them Also to Greg, for initially pointing me in the NC direction NC PRHT 🤢🤮 Not mine (I really should take more photos of my car), but a NC with the detachable hard top 😁 To me, the difference in how the detachable hard top roof line looks, and how it actually follows the bodies lines, like they do on NA's and NB's, is chalk and cheese compared to the bulbous looking PRHT
