I passed!!!!!!!!! yea i had stock exhaust without silencer... well above 100db lol.. but it was only recheck for my ride height so it didnt matter

Good work mate! I kinda had a shot at them when they were peeling the sticker off because as he was doing it I said "thank god for that" he replys " I'll probably see you back here soon though, I know how much you skyline drivers love to just put all the shit back on straight after you pass". I just replied back " Mate, aslong as I've got that P-plate in my window and the "skyline" written across my boot I'm gonna have those stickers in my window" he didn't have a come back so I jumped in the car and left.

anyone know if its defectable to modify the foam in the back seat , backs? not the seat portion but in between?

no structural mods to seat frame just foam center portion between the seats ?

If you get defected for inadequate rear seat foam, ill, well i dunno, do something funny.

fail stewy?
and what for stewy?

a few roadworthy issues, missing a nut and bolt here and there, which is fair enough. then my suspension, i felt like i was talking with a 16yo with his first import, he kept saying i had coilovers, and that coilovers are illegal, i kept telling him that coilovers were standard, the only difference with mine is that my standard components have been replaced, and that the adjustment is within the seats which were not there. i was told on the phone that as long as u arent able to adjust the height without pulling the suspension apart if was considering non-adjustable and legal. the other issue was 2/3 travel, he said "how do we know these maintain 2/3 travel" and i said if i came in with monroe OE replacements, would i be alright? and he said yep, i asked why that was, the only difference between my bilsteins and monroes is one costs a hell of a lot more. apparently when u have bilsteins, ur suspension is all of a sudden considered coilovers, but if u put in monroes or some other budget shock its not.

i might just mention these had been through twice before.

also caster rods, the fact that they'd been through twice before as well didnt seem to matter.

when i was getting defected i was told that he could fine me for everything defectable on my car, which included fining me per rim but he let me off with a fine

lol every cop says that, but none ever do, u might get one breach of adr's, but ive never heard of people getting a breach of ADR's for every defect on their car under normal circumstances.

bought my new car lastnight.....

pulled out of the dudes street....

highway patrol pulls me over.....

defect for bold tyres.....

has to be a record with that one haha less then a minute of owning the car and i get defected haha

at least it was only a cop shop though :) the cop was very chill and i know he could have done more if he wanted but didnt

also gave me 120hours to drive the car. i thought the most you could get was 72? either way i bought new tyers and the cars off defect ;)

yeah i did poo myself abit at first.

the guy started talking to me about the car and asking about it and said how clean it was and even said sorry about defecting me (but it was for unroadworthy tyers so very understandable defect)

gave me 120 hours to drive the car but was very good to have a nice younger cop that wasnt a tool. more like him the better and i told him that too

what area you live in ?

the young cops around here are stuck up and they take it out on the younger drivers for unrealistic things

Had a lucky one today! Got pulled into a random licence check station near the Village, then get asked to pull off to the side.

Cop asked me to pop the bonnet and prepare for a roadworthy inspection, i nearly shat! As Krishy and Chad know, nothing is hidden in my engine bay! Open pod filter, boost controler solenoid, atmo catch can, intercooler and not the quietest exhaust. Both the cops were really nice guys, and surprisingly the older one knew what stuff was! Quick check around the car, asked about BOV (std plumback), bit of chit chat about the car then i was sent on my way!

My views of SAPOL have now changed

Missus reckons i've got the gift of the gab :P

    • I hadn't thought about the variable power steering assist. Presumably, it will always be the same level of assist as you get in an S14. The R32/3/4 are either helliishly heavy (at low speeds) if the solenoid is not powered at all, or hellishly too light (at high speed) if it is powered all the time. I presume that it is PWM controlled on those cars. I hadn't thought about the S cars not having variable assist. ugh. What crappy plebby cars they must be!
    • Hmm yeah that is a good point. It looks like it'll just bolt in with no real issue besides maybe the bushings being different. My other concern was that 2 pin plug that I assume is used in some way to control the rack solenoid depending on the speed signal from the ecu. The DMAX rack doesn't even have that plug though so, don't think it'll matter. Might just order the rack and see how it goes. Will update this when I figure something out
    • I'd say it's a fair bet that the feed and return fluid lines will be in different enough spots that you would need to come up with a way to cut the originals short and adapt with new hard line adaption or braided teflon hoses or somesuch. But really, you have the car, you have the photos of the DMAX rack - you should be able to go out there and see for yourself whether they're in the same or different spots.
    • I've been doing some looking around and honestly was just considering throwing a new rack at it. I saw that the dmax silvia rack bolts up into the 33 with the silvia bushings but not sure if the high pressure lines will sit in the correct spot. I believe other version of the 33 rack are the same/similar to the racks that can be opened up without as much fuss so I assume the dmax rack would fit but any ideas?
    • I've never played with one, but I would expect that you are correct. That slot looks like it is intended to be used to unscrew the end, and the flats on the body would be better than grabbing it around the round bit with a pipe wrench. So, yeah, probably unscrews. You'll probably have to make a tool to drive in that slot.
