Gokarting In Melbourne. Wheres The Best Place To Go?

Recommended Posts

as the title says, does anyone know of any good, and i mean real good gokart tracks in melbourne where we can hire them for a bit and stuff..

getting sick of topkarts crappy circuit. its too easy but good fun in the wet.. you can get some decent sideways action

thanks

mate u want a challenge go to cafe Go in morrabin alot of people complain about it being to small but its one of the most challenging tracks i have gone to and i have been carting for about 6 years now its challenging because the surface is slippery very hard to get a good time on the track and its nothing to do with speed pure driving skill.

The indoor one @ Port Melbourne is good, and the Moorabbin one is almost as good too.

I liked the Sunshine go-karts, and that would be fun in the wet. And I'm off to the Dandy south go-karts this weekend.

So with that my rating is...

(1)Sunshine

(2)Port Melbourne

(3)Moorabbin

Anybody know if the public can ever get on the big outdoor cart track in Port Melbourne beside the westgate bridge? I know they have proper race meets there etc but I thought they might do some days for the public?

Ace Karts is not too bad,

But my choice would be Silhouette on the Hume in Camblefield (I think that's where it is) Great track and if you have your own kart it's only $30 for as long as you like

hey mate LeMans gokarts in dandenong is awsome its got two tracks and if your fast enough you get the faster karts  .

Yeah but when you do get yur gold card your the only one aloud on the track, whats the point if you cant race your mates for bragging rights grrrr

Silhouette are the fastest IMO. Facilities are a little low rent, no fancy stuff like Ace Karts - But if you are just after quality go kart action - I highly recommend this place.

Its in the northern subs. on the Hume Hwy - just past the Ford factory.

Ive only been to these three.

1. Le Mans Dandy. Mad track lots of twists, good bends, you get the fast carts.

2. Ace Karts Sunshine. ok.. similar to Le Mans...as in main straight, all the bends on the right side, then big sweeper into main straigh. fun when wet.

1051. Karts in Shunshine Fun city. BOG MANG, wouldnt even spit on the track. Fun for kids but.

Ace karts track is ok if you get the supercarts, as they call them. I call a superkart the 250cc one's, but they call them 6.5HP which just out-pips my Honda lawnmower. Anyway, the only issue I have with them is they kick you off and ban you if they think you caused an accident. They are the true kart nazi's.

Nah you can't get out there Dave unless your a member of the club or get invited by a member. Having said that, I've driven it :D

yeah i got spun out and got lapped twice so when i got back on the track i wrung the karts neck trying to keep up to everyone.

out of nowhere the operator runs on the track. i slamm the breaks and swerve into the tyre barricades

he yells at me and says watch were your going!

i get out of the kart take me helmet off and unleash my large aray of insults at him.

WHO THE f**k runs onto the track like that and tells me its my fault?

part of the reason why i wont go there anymore

the other plus at Silhouette is it's open till 10pm and you can race under lights. I don't know what their rental karts are like though as we take our own, but the track is a lot of fun and you can get some real speed up on the straight! Plus you don't get brethalised like you do at Ace Karts. Went there once and had only had a can and tehy said I was drunk and not allowed to drive, I argued the fact and he said we will give you the bretho, I passed at .00 so suffer in his jox! HAHAHA!!

    • I transferred from full time service to Army Reserve, so I still have access, work has been super keen to get me in to work in the OPS realm, so just turning up to use the gym......and ovens, isn't causing any issues, apart from me needing to keep on telling them that I won't be doing any reserve days until I get my joint in Goulburn sorted  Basically I can now work whenever I want, for how long I want now, and it's all tax free Next time we have some fires or floods you might see me covered in mud, or cutting sick in some plant equipment cleaning up, the Reserves love getting in the news, LOL
    • Final finish outcome of 80°c was typical to the pics, I've turned the oven down to 50°c and will pick them up after the gym tomorrow  The before and after difference was amazing, the wrinkle paint has covered all of the casting marks completely It did take a couple of hours to key it all and get in all of the crevices, but, for me it was time well spent for the final outcome, but I have all the time in the world to do it at the moment  Ended up with 4 coats, each sprayed at different angles to get optimal coverage and thickness As for the fixtures and intake box thingo that hasn't made it, the supplier is apparently posting the fixtures, and, are now sending a different CAI that is in stock The replacement CAI is actually better than what I originally ordered, but will require a pod filter that locates under the front bar, still serviceable, but it basically removes the whole OEM filter box and ducts into the front bar, so filter cleaning will require ramps and the removal of some front bar undertray, not a war stopper, just some ramps and an additional 10 minutes work every few months From looking at it it is made from alloy pipe from the throttle body, through the CAI hole in the rad support, then right turning under the bar, luckily the wrinkle paint was on special and I got 2 cans for $30ish, so the alloy will get the same wrinkle treatment as the intake manifold, hopefully it turns up soon, either way, the car will be getting booked in soon, if the parts aren't here, I'll just get MX5 Mania to " make it work"
    • I'm so glad base security is so high. I see they stopped some random codger from being able to just wander in off the street... 😛   PS, intake looks good!
    • So far so good, another hour and their done
    • Exactly how each part works and how they all work together to make the engine function. That's all I'd need to do a basic build. Maybe how forced induction works. I probably need to learn some of the maths behind it all as well.
