Ahh thanks for the link Adz!

Yeah Adrian - exactly what I meant. Brown's car would be unknown by 99% of people on here and has somwhere between 30-50% of the power of the cars it was competing against.

So 1.12.1 was the quickest lap of the day from the Evo. Very good result there.

Also maybe its a missprint but this John Boston bloke turned up 3 times - 1st in class, 3rd in class and 5th in class. He must be an odd sort of guy.

I'm sure our Vic friends will be pretty cut up to see their mate Brett Middleton come home dead last in the amateur class super lap.

The Nismo radiator cap decided it didnt like sitting in a VTEC engine bay YO!!!!

No seriously looked like a Nismo radiator cap gave way and spurted coolant everywhere...

What's a nismo radiator cap doing in a vtec engine bay :O

Nah seriously, it sounds like a head gasket to me. The guy has been on the phone so many times this weekend.

I help him prepare that car last week. I even sold and installed my $1400 PWR radiator for dirt cheap so he could compete this weekend without overheating. He had overheat and coolant came out of radiator cap once with the stock system.

Anyway his coolant kept coming out on the track even though the coolant temp was only 83 C. In pit lane with the fan disconnected, the coolant got up to 90+ C without any leak at all. Spark plug no 1 was a bit white. Car had difficulty with start and blow white smoke (with start) at time.

Head gasket?

It's such a shame and I feel sorry for the guy, he drove all the way from QLD to only find out that he probably had a head gasket leak.

Anyway I will probably get the blame for this good gesture :D

Adz picked it. the track was definitely slower than last year. :D maybe 1 to 2 seconds off. possibly due to lots of rain during the week and no big events with cars on slicks running for a bit. when I was driving on saturday the track felt very green.

which just goes to show how fast the evo with garth driving is. he still bagged a flat 12 which is stupid fast! well done to those guys.

mark and russ were happy. a 13.6 on the cars first outing was great, and that was with no front drive. the car was toasting the rear tyres for most of the track. apart from that the car ran faultlessly all day. :D

haha, it looks like a drift car!

the evos were flying.. makes me want one... they were shooting out of the final corner faster than any other car there.. they just couldnt match the punch down the straight.

cant wait to see the 34 with the fronts hooked up if thats the case. does it have a name yet??

:D

There are no words that can describe how i feel about this car....

Just have to say that I found so many pit crews and driver to bevery friendly on the day.. You are often a little intimidated to go up and say Hi..

But found yesterday to be great I even had a total stranger pit crewing for a wrx tell me who won the V8's in Vic as he overheard my conversation to a friend!

Was spewn the car I was pit crewing for went home early with an issue but that's motorsport for you!!

Well done to all entrants and pit crews and organisers was a fantastic day and the calibar of cars was brillant!!

Alot more organised this year :D I wonder how many people walked through the gates?

flat 12 is damn fast, considering the V8 Supercars do it in the 1:09 to 1:11 bracket!

Vi-PEC wins Superlap !!!

Well done Insight Motorsport on taking out the Superlap Event.

Scott Kuhner has prepared, engineered and tuned the car and runs a V88 ecu and uses E85 fuel.

Scotty did plenty of hours on the car up to the event and did plenty of overnight 5am sessions on it to get it ready.

top stuff guys.

They also took out clubsprint event in the evo9 which uses a Vi-PEC pnp ecu and uses E85.

Yay that friend was me! :D Nice to catch up Jess :D

Vi-PEC wins Superlap !!!

You were strangely absent from this event... You could have won it for ViPec yourself :D

Great day out, was VERY sunny and I have a great sunglasses tan...

That R34 is pure porn, and like I said I would, I touched it! :D

Our Vi-PEC powered circuit GTR was at home sleeping...zzzzzz

Scott was very admirable (or silly) in leaving the BELgarage signage on the EVO as it has nothing to do with them anymore. The EVO has been de-BEL'd and is a much better enginnered and prepared car now.

So were there any Bel Garage cars there? I think I only saw that one bit of livery and that was it...

Bel Garage

BSM

Queen St (lol)

Red R Racing

Risking (I forget who you work for brad :D)

All absent, bar Brad who WAS there but left early (F1 fan? lol)

Well done Insight Motorsport on taking out the Superlap Event.

They certainly were the fastest (by a fair margin!) but they didn't take it out... That honour goes to Mark Berry.

What happened to the car in the final one lap dash? There weren't any catastrophic bangs or fluids spewing out... It just kind of stopped accelerating!

yes, the white bel/insight/garth walden evo took out pro class fastest qualifier and FTD, but something happened in the superlap. mark took that one with an awesome lap which was also his own FTD. he was thinking there would be no grip and no hope of improving so he just let it all hang out and gained a little time on his previous best. there is a lot more to come from the car though.

The EVO split the plenum where the idle control stepper motor bolts on.

Big showing for Vi-PEC in its 1st serious event...maybe they can now be considered as a REAL alternative to MoTeC...as they removed the MoTeC that Garth used to run and fitted the Vi-PEC with a marked improvement in the running of the engine.

    • Hey crew, Failed my WOF cause of a lower control arm, and I've decided to hit both arms, and also the compression rods at the same time(seems they're gonna be the most likely upcoming failure points from some discussions with the lads over on the G35 reddit). I've looking at these form Z1:  https://www.z1motorsports.com/front-suspension/hayaku-automotive/hayaku-g35-front-compression-rod-p-40716.html https://www.z1motorsports.com/front-suspension/hayaku-automotive/hayaku-g35-front-lower-control-arm-p-40674.html I asked Z1 if they'd work as it's the same platform, just RHD vs LHD. I basically got told "Lol dunno". Specifically they aren't aware of any difference but can't guarantee fitment as they haven't done it on a 350GT. So guess I'm asking is if there is any issues with using 2005 G35 coupe suspension parts on a 2005 350GT coupe? Orginally I thought it could be something in the way of the arms that each control arm is designed to be positioned around, but that'd be an engineering nightmare for Nissan needing two different shaped control arms 😅
    • ^ This. The mode door actuator is a common failure, as is the actuator and/or the actual valve for the coolant flow control valve. I also don't know how available the mode door actuator is these days. I've been meaning to look into it and get one from wherever is possible, to keep in the shed for the rainy day when mine eventually fails. Anyway, the advice to you is to search the usual NOS part supply places, or even just go to Nissan and see what they list.
    • Have you got a pic of the actuator? My guess is that unit has failed internally and was flopping around, so the previous engineer who owned it forced it to be fully open to cold air (blocking the heater core path). As far as you can tell, is anything else wrong in the system? Likely you just need a new actuator (not sure how available they are) and then "installation is the reverse of disassembly"
    • I'm happy with the Lsailt unit that I put in, it puts full Android on the top screen so you can run whatever Nav and other Apps you want, while still existing inside the factory functionality like automatic reverse cams, audio input switching, retains factory bluetooth etc. Not cheap and the install was moderate (not simple, not hard) Yours is a V36 not V37 though right?
    • Yeap, all the NC's that I originally looked at that had a hard top were PRHT, which makes the roof line look horrible, hence why I said nope to them My only caveat for another MX5 was it needed to have a hard top, and initially I didn't think you could get a detachable hard top for the NC,  like my NB had Again, a big thanks to Matty for helping me source the detachable hard top for my little girl, they are as rare as hens teeth in Australia, and the few people who have them, keep them Also to Greg, for initially pointing me in the NC direction NC PRHT 🤢🤮 Not mine (I really should take more photos of my car), but a NC with the detachable hard top 😁 To me, the difference in how the detachable hard top roof line looks, and how it actually follows the bodies lines, like they do on NA's and NB's, is chalk and cheese compared to the bulbous looking PRHT
