I didn't vote, but off-thread...

If we call them 'Customised' or 'Personalised' plates here and...

'Vanity' plates in the US,

What do they call these plates in other countries???

Tez

im only new to the forum....so great start for the first 2 replies guys i feel really welcome.

I just bought plates for about $2200 i got "GTS R33" i love em and think they are great.

What other plates do ppl have in here?

Edited by GTS R33

If you got nothing else to spend money on, then go ahead.

IMO they are a waste of money, nothing gained except a "nicer" looking number plate.

Number plates just a number plate.

Just realised there are 2 threads.

Here is what I said in the same/other thread.

I think its not a bad idea. It kinda brings the car together in a complete "theme"

And sexual number plates and attempted pick up lines on plates should carry heavy heavy penalties and loss of licence!

$2200 for number plates? I paid $200 for mine!!

In WA, you can get [XX ## WA], so i got [NA 33 WA]. Its an NA (Naturally Asperated) 33 (R33) from WA (Western Australia).

I love them, but I'd prefer something a little more personaly. Like a work or something.

Custom plates give the car a bit of character and atleast people can call the car by the name, i know i refer to all my mates car's by their custom plates. Better then saying, "you know that silver R32 GTR with the 5 spoke wheels...."

So IMO not a waste of money at all, however there are certain circumstances where i think money has been thrown down the drain completely on certain plates.

I'll have paid $2200 for my plates if I kept them for 13.5 years, damn RTA and their annual fees

I got NII-54N which was supposed to just be a phonetic spelling of Nissan, but I had a stranger admiring my car, who happened to speak japanese, point out it also spells the japanese word for big brother

I hadn't realised lol so it was kind of cool, like getting 2 for the price of 1

    • Resizing injectors in Nistune can be done a couple of ways, and there are a couple of ways that you can make a mess of it. The tuner needs to be really aware of the effects of whichever approach he uses (either K, or TIM). They are both easy enough to "get the injector size right" to run the engine. But little details like old start enrichment and hot start are affected differently, depending on which boxes you check.
    • Pretty safe to say almost everyone that has tuned their own car has experienced this issue. The difference being that we have our laptop in the car and when it happens, it's literally 10 seconds of tuning to sort it.  Would you be happy to plug in your laptop and sort this yourself? It is a very simple process and there is no risk of harming your engine (if you are worried about that).
    • Yeah thats the next step now, either they wil or i will take out for a drive to work and go straight their after work and see is we get the same issues 🤞  thought i try my luck here too, never know someone else might have had the same issue but thanks for the reply
    • Basically your tuner needs to drive it for the 30 min (or whatever) to create the same conditions then check the ECU settings and sensors at that time. They may not be excited to because that takes them 30 min rather than just opening the bonnet and seeing the problem straight away.... Hot start is generally not as tricky as cold start, but there would be a table for fuel enrichment vs coolant temp as a starting point
    • Yeah, they all cant say anything for sure as everything is working fine . Said unable to find an issue untill it stops again. Could mist likely be CAS wiring or IAS valve issue but again not 100%
