For everyone's info, the following Mod changes have been implemented recently.

Congratulations to the following members who have been promoted by the SAU admins to Moderator status :

SLED

Heslo

Respect their authority, or feel the pain of their ban sticks :P

Cubes/Joel has chosen to step down as a mod, but will still occasionally be around as a normal member.

Whatsisname/Matt and myself stay on as normal.

That is all.

Cheers guys :P It's a great opportunity and I hope I can serve you all well :) As I said in the wasteland it's sad that Joel felt/wanted to leave, he is a great resource that I will miss, he knew his shit but hopefully he'll still pop in here from time to time to lend a hand ;)

i would like to thank cubes for the time and effort he has put into the site well done kudo;s too you . my main worry now is if ya upset sled he might just rock around and stomp on ya :-) .......nah just kidding congrats to all the new mods

cheers mid life crisis

Joel was that sensational of a Moderator it takes two to replace him :action-smiley-069:

no - there are just twice as many d!ckheads/useless posts/people out of control than ever before - hence why Joel has had enough and has stepped down.

about fuukn time, current moderation of this shithole is useless. Pete and Luke can finally draw a line.

you had better be joking .... what don't I do that you would do differently? Your answer dictates whether you get a permanent holiday from SAU, so word it carefully.

It's ok Nightcrawler, i had just woken up and was grumpy. I was merely stating that changes had to be made because there is far too much bickering on here, too many ppl with their knickers up their clacker and more warnings need to be given out before it turns SAU into a complete joke. No disrespect to the current moderators at all, there just wasn't enough of you. I've been contemplating cancelling my account purely because there is too many ppl getting on their high horse and ruining what used to be a half decent forum back in the day.

my horse isnt high enuff. im back btw. some ppl dont have any cash these days, tightarses, so f**kit, im keeping my car. congrats to the new mods, and sled, will be talking to you about getting my bike painted lol.

i hardly see any probs round here as fault from the mods (excuse my brown nose) were not lil kids here and without parental supervision should be able to hold conversations without them blowing into full scale guerilla warfare

i think people need to take it easy when someone disagrees on the things they do to the car, crazy as it might seem we all have different ideas of whats good and uncool on cars

and also people need to lay off the attacks when giving your opinion on what someone should do, remember at the end of the day it aint your friggen car

just 1 of are more common repetitive boring arguments i see around the place

and remember this is the damn net no tone of voice someone could easily be joking and comments sometimes may get accidently taken seriously lighten up and pass the peace pipe.

dan midnight dribbles carry on :action-smiley-069:

This is a great forum, and I have been a member longer than most :action-smiley-069:

Problem is there doesnt seem to be too much to talk about in SA anymore when it comes to Skylines. Spotted and wasting time threads about nothing seem to dominate the headlines with some defect banter for good measure. A lot of the guys and girls with big combos wont post for all sorts of reasons, and some of the newer members - no offence - have nothing worth posting about. Its a Catch 22 and someone needs to step up with some worthwhile content ;)

Well done cubes, you've been a stable on this site since I've been a member.

I can understand your frustrations. I find it hard enough reading some of the dribble on here some days. I can only imagine how hard it is to keep things under control.

well done Joel, your efforts are appreciated.

I agree with a few others, Well done Cubes on the job you did, was sad to see you leave, but yes please stay around! I know alot of people appreciate the advice you give.

Congrats to Heslo and Sled, and to Nightcrawler on your promotion.

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... HTH
    • I think Fitmit had some, have a look on there (theyre Australian as well)
    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily.
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
