From what i have read the standard nm35 axis has about 140awkw's , give or take a few , what gains would be expected , if i installed a better intercooler and pipe work , split dump pipe and full free flow exhaust and improved cold air ???? :)

Don't know but fark I would love to know. . . . . . I have spoken to a few places and some reckon with ecu changes you can expect 10% at the least with no mods. . . . not 100% convinced but only time will tell...

thanks jules , what no-one has had them on a dyno yet with any mods, i was hoping for around 40+awkws, but don't know how well these cars respond to mods. i located a nice white axis in south aus ,july 2003 build, 44k kms , grade 4b , cargo barrier , all the usuals , no sun roof though , but cant have everything , spoke to ben at northshore , he only had the black axis 2002 nice , but black is a pain in the arse , thanks for all your input, regards alan, :P

exhaust could be worth 20 -30KW - a must in any case. The intercooler won't do anything until you get a bigger turbo. Free flow panel filter will give you a few KW.

so are there any direct fit turbo upgrades , wont a better cooler lower intake temps thus increasing power marginally ???

This should provide some details on gains made, and Tony's car is an Axis version too...

Read all 7 pages! Didn't really learn anything new - stock about 130 some say 140awkw, exhaust gives another 20 or 30 and intercooler does nothing.. I have to say I am sceptical about the ECU remapping. Those that have played with them via consult say that none of the settings stick so until Nistune turn to the V6 (could be a while given their smaller numbers compared to say the R33 which will hopefully be next) its piggybacks or the full computer (Link say they can accommodate autos now although I haven't yet heard from anyone who's done it).

Yes sleeper393 intercooler will give marginal improvement , although some report more lag with the stock turbo (further for the air to travel) but by all means get one if you're planning on a better turbo later - you'll get the benefits then.

Mods:

HiFlow turbo

standard dump (includes pre-cat)

3" Kakimoto front pipe (de-cat)

3" Fujitsubo Legalis R

I wish I had all dyno figures for you but after the hiflow was installed, boost was intentionally limited because of the crap restrictive exhaust which was still on.

Power was 140awkw @ 3200 rpm. Max boost was 0.8bar.

With the exhaust, it still boosts to 0.8bar @ 3200, but max boost now is 1bar (or higher, my gauge only goes to 1bar) @ 3800 and there is a heap more power.

Yet to get Dyno figures... Sorry.

Just to let you know, my mate has;

Fuji Legalis cat-back

Standard turbo

Standard Dump

ARC intercooler

My car just pulls away from his.

The ARC cooler is very nice, but the stock cooler can quite easily deal with 1bar boost it seems.

Well heres my 2 cents for what its worth.

I have a S2 Stagea (Neo Motor) not sure what it dynos at as standard but I can report the following results.

Initial Mods

Fujisubo Legalis R frontpipe and Catback

Hi Flow Metalcat

Greddy Front mount

Trust Pod Filter

With these changes my car initally dynoed at about 163kw

Then fitted Emanage Ultimate and Turbosmart Boost Tee

Car dynoed at about 195KW

Then on advice from tuner swapped out Boost tee for a gizzmo EBC to stabilise boost pressure as it was spiking (now running 12psi consistently)

Car finally dynoed at 203kw (My dyno graph is on this site somewhere can't remember where will try and find it and put in a link)

In my experience the most power was unlocked via the E-manage but you do need supporting mods in place first to be able to unlock the power. So if you want to make reasonable power e.g. 200+ awkw you will have to start with the necessities first anyway. (FYI I believe that for street use the std intercoolers are reasonable for up to 200kw, anything over this then they need replacing and if you are swapping ouit turbos then i would definitely replace it. )
