I just ended up going with Just car...

premium of 1550 a year thats i think at $152.65 a month

Heres the bitch part lol...

Excess 2550...

at an agreed value of 13500. What you guys think of all this.. I have a series 1 r33 1993 running 220rwkw but should be more now since the turbo's been high flowed.

Sid

I just changed from Just car to SGIC - they certainly insure R34's, they did say that they only insure turbo's on over 25's.

300 bucks saving and benefits like windscreens, hire cars etc...

Last time I checked with them a year ago they wouldnt do it. So worth giving them a call imo.

yeah good call and when you say to that market you have to be 25+ that cuts out a whole heap more

EDIt

i just tried the SGIC online thing they will insure me but there standard cover was like $3900 and i could up it too $6900

would have to ring them i think

sgic dont insure skylines, unless they have changed their rules but i doubt it

When I moved out of home I swaped to my girlfriends insurence SGIC, from Wesfarmers because it was easier for her.

-I had my S13 drift car insured for being in the garage, workshop, trailer.

-R33 with the forged RB26.

-Now my 180 with them.

Also got discounted because my home and contents is with them. Had no dramas at all getting insurence either :D

Oh and I'm also 22 (23 soon :s ).

I just got a quote from SGIC...

22 years old, no accidents

1989 R32 GTR

Agreed Value of $30,770

$1460.43 basic excess($800) or $1217.02 if I increase the excess($2000)

God damn, think I'll be changing to SGIC after my insurance runs out in March or whatever it was or bargain with them to give me a better deal!

haha Yeah that would make more sense :P

But pretty much ever time I get insurence I'm insuring more then my car which most companies wont pass up haha

Also upgrading my private health. That cost more then my car, home and contents cost together!

Edited by Import S13

mine was something like $56 monthly buy cover up to 3.6k extendable to 6.9 or something

Edit

just did the quote thing again

$ 488. 48 annually

or $45.62 monthly $3900 cover

just cars for me was only $800ish for 16-17k cover

OR

$ 573. 12 annually

or $53.25 monthly $6630 cover

Yeah fark, SGIC for the dirty whore is:

$1197.10 annually ($108/92 monthly)

the big downside is they will only cover up to 15g, i have to ring them to get market value.

Is 15k the max it would allow on the web quote? Geez what value was on the lowest end? lol

Steve, tell me that quote was for the daily hahaha

for a 1994 skyline sedan a coupe might have different results

EDIT

yeah flaming mongrels

i just did it as a coupe and got very very different reslts and thats all i changed was body type

$658. 85 annually

or $60.98 monthly $14500 value

844. 72 annually

or $77.74 monthly with maximum value added of $24650

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
