At the end of the day any one can say its a bad idea or trying to buy votes but what else is there, have the government keep the money to them selves and see how far we slide, any one who was trying to get a job in the midst of the last recession would know that we dont want to go there again, as much as this does not seem like a perfect plan there is'nt many other options apart from letting the economy slide into a recession and then trying to come back from it, im a big believer in the theory "prevention is better than the cure".

I dont think its aimed at the unemployed, the whole idea is for people to spend it on goods and services, therefore keeping business's trading, keeping people in jobs and maybe even create enough work to make new jobs, which is also the aim of all the new projects the government is doing now, this is more about keeping the economy from sliding into a recession and maybe even spark some growth so that people who have lost there jobs can find new ones.

Obviously it's not aimed at the long-term unemployed as they wouldn't need to do a tax return, which is one of the requirements of the handout. But as you can see by the above repsonses as to what people will spend the money on (savings, buying parts from overseas) then I'd suggest less than 50% of the money will make it into the Aussie economy, and of that it will appear as a momentary blip, and won't create any long-term jobs.

I doubt anyone would say we don't need the government to provide some form of economic stimulus, the debate is about the makeup of the stimulus package.

Cool, I can't wait to stimulate Japans economy by spending $900AUD on Yahoo Auctions :(

Lol me too! Can't wait for my money.

should get you a nice air freshener with todays exchange rates :D

Lol

hahah true. no stimulus package for me..
I won't get any of this money
I don't get f**k all.

Bah... fatcats. Stop complaining about being too rich. The rest of us need the money.

if you really want to "do your bit" spend this money on a SERVICE, and i don't mean a car service (although it could be that), i mean when you talk about goods and services, spend the money on a what would be classified as a service. This means the money circulates in the economy longer, and considering how much stuff we buy is from o.s., keeps the money in Australia for longer as well.

I recommend perhaps taking the car for a bit of a spruce up to Damian @ Final Inspection for a thorough detail, or maybe get that 100K km service you've been meaning to do. Won't cover it completely, but will go a long way to doing so.

Yes, the make-up of the package was wrong (IMO) but we can't do anything about it now, it's passed. So we just have to try and spend in the best way possible. Normally i'm a save, save save guy but i will spend this $900, and on a service. I have a feeling it will be going to my interior... hello local trimmers :D

Your 100% right, it's passed so let's hope the majority of people spend it on things that will benefit the australian economy and not just send it straight overseas. Australian services like brothels are something we should all support :(

what happens if the brothels contains illegal asian workers? do we stay clear of those ones? i would like to do my part in boosting the Australian economy even if that means restricting myself to certain brothels. We all have to make sacrifices. :D

You have a valid concern, as the illegal asian sex workers are likely to send all the money back to there familys overseas. I recommend the government certifies brothels as "100% Australians Whores", so we know our money is going striaght back into our economy :D

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
