That DR is for sale.

Ben Ellis had it at the IDA drift day at Oran Park in Feb this year.

You have the best CAM maker in the country up there near you, Tighe Engineering, they made my n/a cams, brand new, just needed my stock cams for samples to cast the billet blank.

Cheers,

do you mean as in ivan tighe?

Sure do!!!

He made our RB26/30DE hybrid cams.

The wildest duration, over 350 degrees each for the princely sum of $840.00 pair.

When searching around, HKS, Trust, Tomei etc were all that much & more EACH and could/would not supply bigger than 284's.

Cheers :ghost:

damn thats crazy!

i've driven a r31 gts-x with the nics red top and there was nothing there to make me smile in my eyes my rb30e goes harder, from memory the nics red top was only 20hp more than the l20et, to its defence though it was the very next 6cyl engine nissan produced after the l20et, silver top has 205hp at the fly same as the intercooled fj20, produces around 15 more Nm at 6500rpm and with around $2500 in mods should produce around 160rwkws, rb25 turbo and remap 180-200wrkw, vg30 turbo and remap of stock ECU 200-220rwkw...parts and upgrades are at your fingertips from a range of places!! my two cents...

Was it an auto GTS-X by chance? The NICS RB has 180hp if I recall rightly, and the L20et had 145hp? Auto kills the NICS,but 5spd isn't much better. You must have had a freaky RB30E if it went better than a manual RB20DET! I've owned both, and know what I'd prefer. Not that I particually like RB20DET's either........

once the turbo runs at full rpm (silver top makes full power at 6500 engine rpm)its not going to produce more power so the only way to go faster would be to change gear

Yes,I am aware of that :D I was commenting on their ability to rev more than 5k.

No thanks, Butchery is not my stock & trade.

I meant with the proper machinery, ie a lathe, hence its not butchery but a modification....if you arent into modification, why are you messing with adj cam gears?

no offence

A GTS2 RB30E is good for 145Kw at the fly.

i think it was just a sh%t example of a gts-x :D

Hey Guys!! Got my clutch and all that in now, she's sweet as!! Ran my water lines to my turbo, thats sweet as as well just need my hose clamps for the oil return line and the turbz is finished!! Then i need to find my panels :bs!: and its almost ready to go!!

As a quick question, what do u rekon a stock DR30 Fj20 exhaust manifold is worth selling for???

hmm my mate has a gts-x, its got a deep dark secret under the bonnet though!!!

silver top rb20det eccs, with nics finned red rocker covers!! highflow turbo, fmic, mines ecu

the bloody TPS has shat itself though.

that car does sound amazing even with a stock zorst, incredible spool noise. catches many unaware

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
    • I hope that is not something that bad. From what i remember he said that only first gear is "hard" to get in and that he has couple of ideas what to try next but idk 😕  hope it is not gearbox out. I will let you know.
    • If it's not the hydraulics, it is probably gearbox back out. Usually as per @Duncan's post, or otherwise associated with not getting the throwout fork positioned correctly. All the way up to catastrophically bolting shit back together without it being aligned properly and wrecking the clutch/input shaft/flywheel/something else.
