hm well you guys probably dont care too much but success! my dr30 is working again A-Ok after that little electrical scare. Malpassi rising rate is in set for 34psi idle pressure, running 1bar boost, and it goes well. seems to not be working as hard, i guess its probably just lost a bit of edge coz its running richer overall, but pulls hard all teh way to about 6.5k wen i shift now so it seems happier. idle is still a bit rough but slightly better. fixed my BOV too, it had a brass restrictor in the T-piece for the vacuum. even with proper vac supply its still one of the quietest BOVs ever, tis a Prof one. (proffesional sheepdog maybe?). just sounds like my dog sneezing like 'tttsssss' haha works better tho now with a proper supply, less delay on shifts. quite surprised that it made a difference really but it has. so im happy with my car again atm ! haha back on track for FMIC in about 3-4weeks.

nice one its always great to fix a problem yourself and get a better outcome than you throught :headspin:

:D  I'd like a '30 series unit,as they sound like an actual bell dinging, and the HR31's are more of a generated "beep" The one in my old HR30 was a beauty...

Ding..click.....Ding..click....Ding....aahhhhhh,lovely! :rofl::(

Hmm dunno if its the same, but on my mates MR30 headlights on and door open it makes that ding noise, mine doesn't as its been ripped out

adam_rsx - don't bother trying to put your turbo timer next to your head unit. i tried it and it was a major hassle. i ended up putting it on the RHS of the steering column on the hard plastic part just above your knee. there was 4 slots in the plastic as well (i cut out a small rectangle usign them) so the wires can come from behind the dash and straight through the hole so they are hidden

ANY BODY INTERESTED

I just listed in For Sale - Other Items, a Simpson (ex USA) single layer nomex race suit.

Be just the go for anyone wishing to compete in supersprints.

CAMS approved etc, etc, $200.00 and at least $50 going to SAU

went to ROLIN imports today looking for a new ECU for the rb20 and i asked about a DR30 rear end, if they had one, the bloke said he sold one last week $1000, then he told me he has a DR30 rs half/cut !! fj20et with 117000kms all panels for the iron mask (silver) no lights though, so if anyone knows of someone looking its $2500 with the bonnet, but i'd be interested in chipping in $$$ for the front rotors and callipars to keep the cost down..

Adam-RSX - yep the stock pressure regulator is the mushroom looking thing with a vacuum line stuck in the top of it. towards the back of the engine between plenum & head. For the Malpassi, you can leave that one there and then connect the Malpassi in series and it overrides the stock one anyway, or you can remove the stock one. i removed the stock one, but the Malpassi still wont fit in the same place coz its bigger. mines over just infront of the driver side strut tower and p/s fluid reservoir on a bracket.

My turbo timer & HKS EBC are both mounted in the plastic to the left of the headunit. they came like this wen i got the car. the EVC had a black metal bracket for mounting it, and theyve used that to hold it and just screwed it into one of the holes at the bottom of the surround. then just got a bit of similar metal and made a little add-on bracket for the Turbo Timer under that. then just cut out around them in the plastic. looks pretty neat. they dont quite sit straight tho they tend to sag a little the the right since theyre only held properly via bracket on one side, but if i wasnt lazy i could easily secure them better!

Adam-RSX - When the cars turned off my oil pressure guage sits about 2mm below zero. can't remember where it sits when driving, i think around the middle or just under, but can have a better look next time i drive it if u want to know! haha

Wow... nice to see DR30s still floating around, even though they might not be in Perth... i know that DR30RS is in Perth...

I wish mine was a 2 door, unluggily its a 4...

since this thread seems to still be intact, I could ask it here... what can I do with a stock DR30, FJ20-turbo engine with a mere $1k? Yes, very little bling-bling, but criticism is not what i'm after... :D

thanks guys

in fact, just flood-pm me with any stuff i can do, the cheaper and the more money-efficient the better...

DR30s are so hard to get info on! But it seems people know their shet here! *sigh of relief* cos I take my car around when there's problems and no one knows crap all...

Thanks again... ^^ (I think i have photos in the gallery? not even sure myself)

    • I havent bought a manual cover for the dash yet and no cluster change, won't bother me too much, I just need to get that auto box gone, manual in! I miss my manual. 🤪. We started last weekend and managed to get the box out. Planning to start putting it in this weekend and then order a single piece tail. We were super careful to take time and not damage anything. It's my first time working under the car.  With my S15 mainly worked in the bay. This time, it was a headache because of three or four bolts only. They simply didnt want to leave thei homr and the one securing the tailshaft, another above the GB, and the one securing the lipstick was a shit. Mates mate, Davo caught fire 🤣, nearly opened his chest up with a grinder 🤦🏽‍♂️ and both mates nearly had a plate from the box land and slit their head open. Fun times. We all survived. Not the easiest working with limited access on jackstands. As I'm sure we can agree these are the memories which make us love our car. For all three of us, was an awesome weekend and Sunday 3.30am before tools down was a fantastic effort. I need to upload pics, but looks like it needs to be via Url now. We used to be able to just upload pics back in the day. It's been that long! 🤪 Im currently spraying rustoleum under body, not because it's rusted. It's super clean, but just so it's protected for the next 10 years. There was a few surface rust spots. Which pretty much wiped off with a 3M scourer.  Really impressed with how well the previous owner maintained it. Bank account went down so quick! Service, then GB - managed to get a spanking new 34 genuine box from Nissan. All the rest of the conversion parts from Kudos.  Went with a Nismo short shifter. New pedals and Exedy Clutch and FW. Ordered the Prp Rear Main Retainer kit which should arrive Friday and my first engine mod part just like I did with my S15 will be the Tomei Expreme Turbo Outlet. Already on order. It'll likely sleep next to me on a pillow during the coming months. 🥰 Last build was on my JET200GT profile and on SAU and Hardtuned I had documented the build. Planning to try to do that again. Brands feel scarce now. Wish we still had ARC and Apexi parts readily available. Exhaust - need some advice on this. I had an Apexi exhaust on the S15 and loved the tone. My mate had a HKS HP Silent on his 33 and suggested I go with that to avoid drone. I can't remember hearing an RB25DET running that so will likely need to wait for a meet or something to hear it.  Not after big power, just enjoy building it, and drivability with minimal negative attention.
    • Have a chat with Ben at Moore Performance or Jesse at JS Performance.
    • Thanks both. All good advice. Reminds me of drilling through stone wall for drainage pipe 😬 I'll let you know how I get on if I still have use of my hands afterwards 😅
    • Finally got shipping number for the intake and throttle body, shipped by UPS, so "should" be in my hands sometime next week, fingers fracking crossed
