As per my other thread regarding registration requirements in Vic, I'm after a track/drift car for up to 4k, maybe stretch that for the right car.

Car will need to be registered or not far off passing road worthy if it's not registered.

All the usual track/drift requirements apply, RWD, manual, turbo, body is less important than the mechanical side of things. Something that already has suspension and a few go fast bits would also be great. Willing to discuss removing things for the right price, stereo gear for one as I don't need it or fancy pants rims as they will only get munched when I put it in the kitty littler.

I've been scouring various forums, ebay etc and am having plenty of luck finding them but seem to keep missing out due to being to late to the party or finding cars that are too far away etc.

Show me what you've got guys

Yeah ebay man, theres so many silvias and 180s going at the moment, and sometimes its really worth the travel, because by the sounds, the car you want doesnt come around that often for that price.

Start with a R31? Very cheap drifter. I see heaps of people sliding those at Winton.

Yeah the 31's are looking like good value, plenty with RB20 conversion etc.

See how we go.

This is more of a if you have something let me know thread but I'll update this once I've bought something.

Cheers

Whats wrong with the blue 180 on ebay from Sydney? its at 2.5k with half a day to go. Even for 4k that would be a steal! SR and Manual! Buy it and go for a drive to Sydney!

Sorry for whoring up your 'let me know what you have' thread.

Sorry I dont have anything LOL.

Yeah been watching that one :D I asked him a few questions and got no response. The welded diff was a bit iffy too as I wanna be able to drive it on the street also.

EDIT: biggest one is buying a car sight unseen. As in with eBay you bid and you are obligated to buy and I have a good feedback rating so don't want to risk a dispute with a seller when I go to check the car out AFTER bidding and decide it's a POS.

I'd sooner fit an RB30et than down grade to the torque/response of the rb20det.

This is going to stir up alot of shit from those who worship the rb20's.........................

*suits up for the possible flaming* :D

EH...you gotta draw the line somewhere between streetability and practicality and the price you wanna pay.

I just bought a Sil80 for next to nothing, its a HEAP OF SHIT, but its a budget car and its gonna do the job. Its not going to be rego'd either. Just hire or borrow a trailer.

Cheap cars can be had so so easily if youre not fussed about rego, it literally pumps the price by heaps if its near rego of has reg..

If the car isnt what was described, or some problems or details have been left out, youre not obligated. But for that amount of money what do you expect!

I got an R32, red, striped (no heater, aircon, complete hicas removal, sound deadner etc) just replaced the cradle mount bush's, power sterring cooler, 32 gtr rims with new tyers, batt box (not hooked up yet) paint not in the best condidtion however im looking for more that what you are saying you are willing to pay at the moment.

Here is the old thread before i moved for a pic

Femmo: Good point on the eBay stuff mate

Boss: Out of my price range as you can see :D

I'm heading to melb for the weekend guys so wont be responding as quick.

Mate just buzzed me a very promising R31, see what happens :D

I have a 1992 model white R32 that i www going to use as a drift poject i might not use.

its got 3" exhaust, front coilovers and good turbo engine. and a tuned ECU. it is however auto. i was going to get an r31 gearbox and do a manual conversion for $300 but i am starting to loose interest. if you are interested you can have it for 3k.

its also complied and was reg'd in victoria and does not have any defects.

its missing some intiroir bits and needs the headlights wired up.

pm me if u are interested.

    • The spray cans were in the "Kiln" room whilst I was preping the parts,  so probably around 2 hours to get them warmed up, the kiln room has 3 small ovens running at 100°c, 3 medium sized ovens running 100°c, and the large one I used running at 80°c, the room itself was about 28°c, I also spent a bit of time taping up the parts in the room as well, and by the time I was done I would assume that the parts were around that 28°c As for power, I expect a couple of Killerwasps up high would be achievable with the current mods, I'm still running the MZR 2.0 intake and throttle body, and there is a slight mismatch with the 2.0 intake (smaller) and 2.5 intake ports (larger) on the head, this intake is matched and specifically designed to fix this issue with the ports mismatch, the throttle body is also a couple of mm larger, OEM is 65mm, the Bosch is 68mm In the end it will look "prettier" than the molded plastic thing that is the OEM MZR 2.0 intake As for the LSD, it's the OEM Torsen which works fine for what I use the car for, plus, basically no maintenance apart from the occasional oil change
    • I was at Tunehouse in Marrickville (great team over there really know their VR's) , and I spotted this Very clean R35.
    • Mate , I have the same issue right now with the exhaust noise , if you can tell me what your local guy did , I'll talk to my guys and see if they can do the same. Power is good but it just too loud when put it down.
    • The other trick I've found with wrinkle black is to put the can in hot water for a bit to warm the paint up, and to pre-heat whatever you're painting. It'll be interesting to see if you pick up any power with the intake, following with interest. Got a proper lsd for this?
