huh? that's wierd, if boost increased when you made an exhaust change, wouldnt this indicate more of a restriction?

that is, the backpressure can't escape quick enough, which drives the exhaust wheel faster, which drives the compressor wheel faster, which increases boost in the intake side without any change

Other way around.

i've got a full exhaust on my GTR

Mines Dump Pipes

aftermarket front pipe (Stainless)

hi flow cat(stainless)

3in stainless cat back with oval muffler

the dump pipes arent needed, i only did mine cos i changed the turbos, and though "may as well"

just get a aftermarket brand front pipe, good hi flow cat and ring around a few exhaust shops and get them to do a cat back.

i didnt really worry about which brand to use, its all just metal, and just as long as its all mendrel bent youre fine.

and when it comes to sound if youre that picky, try and find a muffler that will give you the note you want, and if you need you can always chuck a hotdog in to deepen the note if need be.

good luck mate,

i'm sure youre gonna like what you get, i know i love the sound of my exhaust!

At the moment im running Tomei manifolds, HKS dumps, HKS front pipes 3.5 inch cat and a Kakimoto Full mega N1. Pretty damn quiet at the lights and driving.. NO drone what so ever. On boost... My god what a noise!!! I couldnt believe how much difference the cat back has made. I had some 3 inch "cut and shut" system on their before.... Just with the catback change i reckon its going better on 1.3 bar with timing pulled out of it then it was on 1.7 (2.8 stroker twin GT RS's). However it wont be cheap as previously said :P

Hey guys, on this subject, I have a GTR with a pair of 2860's, with CES split dumps to Y-pipe to 3.5" hi-flow metal cat. Basically my old exhaust (unknown brand, 3") was reflanged to fit the cat.. What would you guys suggest I get? I'm past my "run in" stage on my new motor, so I need to get my final tune done.

Thanks for your suggestions! :D

Kakimoto Regu 06+R or the Full mega N1

Paul

Man your idea of not loud must be way different to mine or some how the top part of my system must do some nasty damage. I have the Full Mega N1 (single pipe not twin) and without the additional baffle pipe in the cannon (inner silencer) it is a cop magnet - loud and on boost I agree awesome but really loud. Top part is a custom 3" bell mouths off turbs to 3.5" collector to 4" metalcat to N1.

Cheers

^^

Well when i bought the system i was pretty worried about how loud it was going to be at idle and say sub 3500 RPM. Started the car and it just purs. Ive had a mate drive next to me and he said he can hardly hear anything. On boost it absolutely SCREAMS but without big revs adnd the gates not open its quiet as.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hi, know nothing about exhausts. Am going to look at one tomorrow.. XForce apparently 3" to cat (xforce cat?) and 4" rest of the way + full stainless. Its at a good price so I'm pretty much sold on it unless someone can tell me different? (To suit GTR33)

Also, is it going to loud as hell?

Cheers guys.

Can someone confirm before I go and buy it please...?

4" from cat back will be pretty loud, I have a Trust Power Evolution 2 (94mm but close enough to 4") and it is pretty loud, you will get defected.

Depends if it is 4" with a few decent mufflers in there to be under the dB limit?

Cheers, dont have much info atm, just what i said above. I'd be going to buy it today but haven't got a ute atm... Getting it tomorrow in a hatchback :rofl2:

I would find out a bit more info before you commit and hand over cash!

380kw has been made on stock 33 GTR dumps with 2560 turbos.

Im changing back to standard GTR dumps because my stainless HKS split dumps are giving me creep. Also running 2560s.

Im also running a HKS Dual Racing Exhaust, its a full twin which never joins. Tuned length dual.

By changing from a single 3.7 HKS Super Dragger to this exhaust, boost shot up to 23psi from 17psi with no other changes! Let me say it must flow very well!!!

I have R33 GTR Dumps for sale if you need them, the R32 ones are crap.

P.S CES have the worst customer service in the world! dont bother with them!

Was the twin system much/any louder than the single?

I am looking at changing from single to twin system possibly.

I would find out a bit more info before you commit and hand over cash!

It's also apparently 2 months old. I'm mainly going for it cause its only $250 and its all xforce. I had thought 3.5" was the max one should run. Will 4" be unbearably loud cause this is a daily driver...

I rekon twin systems are the bees knees. if you have one direct exhaust path for each turbo it will not only help flow issues but it gives you more room under the car!!!

I agree, with the first bit. But I think you will find there is less room under car, perhaps slightly more clearance to the ground which is what I think you mean.

When I get to the point of upgrading turbos twin 3" all the way to the back of the car... wooohooo!!!!

"Ten Four" for $250 you can't really go wrong, buy it, fit it, if it is too loud for your liking then f**k it off for something more suitable.

Cheers mate, bought and collected it today (had a dent so i got it for $150 lol). It's basically a complete xforce system inc cat. Has middle muffler and rear. Question: Will the whole lot bolt up to stock front pipes or do I need to get some to suit? (Last question and very thankful cheers.)

Here's a awesome paint diagram to help explain..

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
