DaveB
Not sure where the reply above was directed /\ (ie. which post was being answered)... but I think I understand that PCV is not as important as I thought. ...and I have another question. If the blow-by originates in the crankcase, and then travels up the oil galleries into the head, I guess it would be best to vent the sump? ie. cut-out the middle man, or so-to-speak, and let the oil galleries carry oil instead of blow-by? But, this makes me wonder... how do turbo drains still work when there is positive crankcase pressure? ('cause they feed into the sump/block...) DaveB
Had a go at google not real successful. Didn't know what to search for and anything with "RB25" returns a lot of general info (lots of which comes from SAU ) But thinking about it... there must not be oil pressure there either, or there would be no pressure difference to make the oil flow through the turbo... so perhaps the oil return on the turbo is somehow plumbed into an oil gallery or something which is actually on the pickup side of the oil pump? I don't know anything about it, but I figure there must be a low-pressure side of the oil pump as well? Making the turbo oil return a somewhat ideal - and perhaps the only - place to plumb a return from your second oil catch can when using that setup? This would be no good for my original thinking though I guess because this connection must somehow be shielded from blow-by or else the turbo would surely starve of oil under boost! so need somewhere like the dipstick hole, but bigger, which sees blow-by pressure. Luciano
i'm looking to install one in the near future; just got to figure out a place to mount it nicely. Would love one of those custom stainless steel jobs that will hold washer fluid in a separate part of the tank. But the usual/ideal location for it is where the battery sits (behind the drivers side headlight) in sedans. BIT SUS
if anyone with a GTR is interested, im currently making up some copies of the Nismo oil/air separators. closed loop system, that drains the oil back to the sump. fully legal too! i'll post up some photos when mine is finished Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/260910-oil-catch-cans/page/3/#findComment-5066067 Share on other sites

SLED
I'm definitely a fan of the Nismo plumb-back job for street use only and an even bigger fan of the dual setup that Jess & James are running.......which is the way I'd go. I've been trying to track down something that would be street-legal and fairly stock looking for a while - I ended up realising a closed-loop oil/air seperator like nismos would do the trick - but I didn't want to waste coin on something that looked designed for an RB26. Would love to hear more. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/260910-oil-catch-cans/page/3/#findComment-5069308 Share on other sites
