Petrol fumes - R32 GTST

My GTSt has recently developed a really strong petrol smell. I have no idea what has caused this.

I have not overfilled it or anything of that nature. Recently i had a mechanical boost controller fitted (dont know if this could be related).

I have also found the car a little slow to 'come to life' on start up also... (fuel pump possibly?)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....

The smell could be due to a dud charcoal canister

check your injectors

mine used to kick first go every time

now takes a bit longer and wreaks of petty

i looked at the injectors and 2 are leaking.....so yeah.

checked carbon cannister - leads are snapped...

as for injectors havent checked or replaced since i got the car - more than likely stuffed

and also if the fumes persist check the breather pipe from teh fuel tank

My fuel filter was leaking and smelt,just rub your hands around it to see if it's wet,lol

Hi guys, R32's are getting on in years now. As a precaution, I always change all of the fuel hoses, most are on their last legs.

...assuming my car is a dog, then its on its last leg:D

Whilst they are tough toys, and mine has endured many track days, 3 years and 156,000kms and still runs smoothly, quietly & reliably, like all things mechanical they wera/age.

No need ot go stupid with buying new parts, just monitor the conditoin of perishables such as hoses, tie rod end, and torn gearbox boots, the source of similar fumes in my old R31 GTSX

i had the same problem in my r33 gtst, i used silicone on the fuel cap area (it was so loose that the whole thing came out) siliconed it all up and now not even a hint of petrol from within the car. it worked for me

jtech - yeah i had that problem about a year ago but silliconed that mo-fo up and not a prob with fumes till now and it aint that.

Thanks for the advice guys - ill check all hoses, injectors and filter. Hopefully it's a $2 fix...
