thx guys for a great day!!

Always love heading to heathcote for a sunny day at the drags...

Thanks to the Golgo crew of friends and girlfriends getting the bbq crackin' ..

The cars? ... The Lada survived another day after towing endless for most of the way ... ended up driving the rest (gasket leaking so worried about overheating) .. but was all good.

Great to see so many familiar faces (and cars) from SAU ... really feels like like day was put on for us .... good to see everyone getting out there .. Golgo (Jamezilla) cracking into high 12's with slipping clutch, GTR-34 further refining it's ability to make a consistent 11sec R34 .. just gotta get there first :D .. shame about the clutch half way up the track!.. who else ... some nice GTSt's made 13's ... Impul was one of the winners of the day ... with 4wd burnouts being the in thing in my book (saw an Evo do this at calder and Impul managed a 60ft 4wd burnout .. and of course the 11.7 !... as usual, crazy auto drag cars ... thx Leewah for the moral support and help with Endless on the trailer .

and Endless... well I was sure I could walk away with an 11.something however I was unable to suss a good launch techinque after 3 runs ... each of them were around 2.5 (or over in 60ft times!! (yes, pretty poor effort :D) .. Meggala got pretty close with the MPH of 129.72 which I understand is pretty farqen quick! .. damn feels nice to get up to that speed on the strip.

And yes, as soon as I let the experts take over to drag my car.. well snapped something else! (we think it's a section of the gearbox .. probably not the actual gears ... will soon find out :D

Thanks to Jack from CityWide towing for coming all the way down and sending back Endless and GTR-34.

Can't wait to get there again ...

Maybe Meggala can pull his finger out and make the time to challenge my Ceffy ... head to head ceffy's ... first in Australia?

Cheers,

Oyabun

:burnout: :burnout:

So the car ran a 12.7 on slicks but a 12.4 on some sort of street tyres? hahaha damn I want some of those what were they

Awesome mph though I'm sure if he can get the power down to lower the 60ft without breaking something we'll see some mind boggling times

Yes - great day.

I learned that I suck at Webbers and the Niva sucks at towing (but is great at taking out signposts).

12.93 @ 106mph (Sam)

13.02 @ 105mph (Me)

Clutch slipping in 1st and 2nd though. Still loads of fun.

Happiest run was leading Impul (Sam) for half track (then the 2530s showed me the business). Dude, I almost had you! :D

Got asked a few 'emissions' questions by Police in Heathcote on the way home, but actually think it was from interest rather than legalities :D I guess the letterbox will tell the tale in a week or so.

Next time I'd like to see Nismo34 and Mrs Nismo34 in a duel. And yeah - Louise's soon to be Vitara vs. the Lada in the showdown of the 20-second bracket.

hmmm.. You were getting some good 60' there jamez of a consistent 1.85s or so pretty much every single time - just gotta pull the rest of the shit together :)

Cheers to the girls as well for showing us how to actually cook up on the webber :)

Impuls was impressive, the dr doing some silly 4wd sideways burnouts was fun to watch at the line.. Impuls was about the only crazy GTR that didn't manage to snap anything :D Its even dr_drift proof...

props to the R34 gt-t boyz as well for getting nice 13.80'ish. was fun to see them lineup a couple of times.. Also ;) for nismor34 giving r34gtt-t the timing to beat his own best time. We have a new SAU GT-T 34 record guys!

I nearly got defected on the way home too for my tyres.. damn cops doing a boozo down near camberwell.. but they let me go - you gotta feel pity for anybody forced to drive my thing :(

Funniest part for me was at the start when i was coming in. Ticket guy goes "man what have you got under that thing, you got a turbo on it or something", and i am like "nah mate, its just ****ed, it just makes that sound" lol :D :D

Good work to Rigga as well getting some consistent 13's times. Pity i couldn't have got the ol' 33 this weekend to give it a try myself :(

Forget Calder, Heathcote is basically the only place to go if you want a decent number of runs. I think most of the guys got about 10-15 runs in. Now for next time - see whether i can get a nice solid 13's bracket time.. then thats it for me for the 33. Next up: project 12sec for under $20k :)

Some more...

The Lada after 'the incident' - Endless is being removed from the trailer:

and...

It was a big day for some. Aw...

Had a mad day. As usual I didn't race but thats not why I went.

I just wanted to hang with everyone and the drive up and back is always haughn. Why is it that no matter how fast you go on an overtake, you always end up wanting to go harder the next time? And so you do.

Perhaps its just that the RB sounds so erotic at 6000rpm.

Good to catchup with a few of you guys. Hopefully the next time will not be too far off.

PS. Anyone get pics of my car? hehehe

I dont think Paul's [riggaP] car is stock guys - but nonetheless he did very well getting into the 13's.

I ended up having about 17 runs - you can call me "drag whore" if you like ;)

My best was 13.84 @ 101.58mph, 60ft - 2.17secs. I was stoked. On the day all my combined mods were, Pod filter, 3inch catback with Jasma [very quiet] kakimoto muffler and running 10-11psi. Street fuel 98ron and street 'el cheapo' tyres.

Was a great day for it, nice and sunny without being too hot.

Cheers for the photo's Gordo.

It wont happen overnight but it will happen ;)

We have already had an 'informal' challenge, she is still perfecting take-off [so am I] and wants to at least match my mods first.

Watch this space! lol

    • This. A 3d wheel alignment is like $120...just take it to the shop. Since theres probably multiple adjustments that need to be made after changing something. Mine has front/rear lower arms, traction rods, tension rods, camber arms, toe arms, front upper arms, hicas kit, sway bars and coilovers. I measure from the edge of the bolt holes on the originals and set the same length on all the adjustable stuff to dial it as close as I could to OEM. Took it straight for alignment; it didnt feel right at all...after alignment, it feels perfect. Similarly i've just changed the springs on another car; and I still needed multiple adjustments to bring it back in spec.
    • A full Veilside kitted JZA80 Supra in Meriken park in Kobe city a few weeks back
    • Its a well known brand in New Zealand; its a rebrand of the Rhino RAV3.  I don't know what the wiring difference *is* between the rev.1 (installed about 15 years ago) and rev.2; but as you say I would think its reasonable that it uses the same immobiliser relay circuits. I had a look but couldnt see a similar harness; but didnt move things around since I didnt want to mess with it   It was one of AVS well known Authorised Installers; I spoke to AVS themselves about it but theyre unsure hence seeking advice more so from the skyline community who are more familiar with the actual car and its wiring. Im in Auckland; but the installer is on the other side of the city so hes very reluctant to come back to even look at it to confirm something isnt connected into the wrong wire.  I dont want to drop the name since they *did* do a really good job for the most part. Everything is very tidy and he fully replaced all the alarm wiring, all the sensors, the wiring to the door motors, installed a switch which was never installed in the first place...really happy with the alarm install itself..just not this one issue. We all make mistakes, if it is the alarm, I just want my fuel pump getting proper switched, fused, power as it was; without having to shell out for an auto electrician to switch a wire and tell me it was the alarm.
    • Even with the piston at TDC there was room for it to drop, but I don't think it can drop fully into the cylinder, the problem you have is that you need something pushing against the valve to hold it up so you have enough room to put the new stem seal on and the spring etc.  I used compressed air only because putting rope in the cylinder seemed a bit risky to me, I know people have done it countless times before like this. Overall it's a pain in the ass job. Honestly you'd probably be better off taking the head off because the risk of dropping something in the engine and the finicky-ness of it all is very stressful. If you are going to attempt it though i 10000% recommend a 36050 valve spring/keeper tool. I had both the traditional lever type and after doing 1 cylinder it was absolute pain to get those valve keepers in place, even with 2 people. That 36050 is amazing, you do have to push hard to get them in place but it works perfectly almost every time. Back to my actual issue I think my engine is just tired and old and the rings have gone bad. The comp numbers (cold, no oil) were: Cyl 1 -129psi Cyl 2 - 133psi Cyl 3 - 138psi Cyl 4 - 137psi Cyl 5 - 157psi Cyl 6 - 142psi   Cylinder 5 and 6 having the most carbon on them.
    • Who did you have do the installation? I actually know someone who is VERY familiar with the AVS gear. The main point of contact though would be your installer.   Where are you based in NZ?
