Hi guys, (question relating to rb26 bolt on turbos)

I was just wondering if there was a difference between the gt2560's(-7,-5,-10) and the gt2860's(-7,-5,-10)? or are they the same turbo/s?

if they are different, which of the 2 are closest to the HKS GTRS's? it would be the gt2860's as they are t28 based??

i just wanted to know as i didnt realise there were a gt2560 range but a mate of mine insists he has a pair of gt2560-5's. i was alway under the imporssion there were only gt2860's as i was looking at a set of gt2860-5 if they were direct bolt on!

thanks for any help

The GT2560R uses the 60T GT25 turbine and the GT2860R uses the 78T GT28 turbine. Pretty simple.

The HKS GT-RS is the Garrett GT2871R-10.

this is right as i went thru the same confusion when i bought my -10's

here is an email from gcg:

"Going by Garrett's designation system, these are technically GT2871R Turbochargers. The only reason we still stick to calling them "GT2860R -10 Versions" is that there would be too much confusion between these and the SR20DET bolt on GT2871RS."

-5s support 360hp: http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...0R_707160_5.htm

-7s support 310hp: http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...0R_707160_7.htm

-9s support 360hp: http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...0R_739548_9.htm

-10s support 460hp: http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...R_707160_10.htm

link for GTR -9s should be http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...9R_707160_9.htm

The bollocksed up naming has tripped you up - it mentions the -9s are 330hp in the blurb, but 360hp under "powershift". Pretty sure the 330 is the right number.

Have a look at the turbobygarrett site and note the turbine dimensions where their list changes from GT25xxR to GT28xxR .

Treat the HKS turbos ie GT2510/2530/2535/2540/GTRS as GT28xxR turbos , aside from the 2510 these all use the same NS111 turbine anyway . GTR spec GTSS or GT2859R I think uses the same turbine as GT2510 .

A .

are the -10 direct bolt on?? the look fairly different to the stock turbos and the -7 and -5's

after being defected i have deciuded to use bolt on turbos rather than a single conversion. i was interested in getting a set of gtrs' but the exchange rate is making them very expensive so i was looking into the garrett option!

    • Update: O2 sensor in my downpipe turned out to be faulty when I plugged in to the Haltech software. Was getting a "open circuit" warning. Tons of carbon buildup on it, probably from when I was running rich for a while before getting it corrected. Replaced with new unit and test drove again. The shuffle still happens, albeit far less now. I am not able to replicate it as reliably and it no longer happens at the same RPM levels as before. The only time I was able to hear it was in 5th going uphill and another time in 5th where there was no noticeable incline but applying more throttle first sped it up and then cleared it. Then once in 4th when I slightly lifted the throttle going over a bump but cleared right after. My understanding is that with the O2 sensor out, the ECU relies entirely on the MAP tune and isn't able to make its small adjustments based on the sensors reading. All in all, a big improvement, though not the silver bullet. Will try validating the actuators are set up correctly, and potentially setting up shop time to tune the boost controller on closed loop rather than the open loop it is set to now. Think if it's set up on closed loop to take the O2 reading, that should deal with these last bits. Will try to update again as I go.
    • More so GReddy oil relocation kits, sandwich plates, etc. all use 10AN fittings. And same, I've only used 10AN and my car sees track work (circuit, doing laps, not 10 sec squirt business).
    • street use or race track, what hose size and why? what factors change with the hose size options ?   see most comon is an10. when you see most oem external coolers are closer to an12? does high volume oil pump like nitto need an12 or 10 be just fine
