Well its been sitting in bits since the keyway gave up the ghost about 4 years ago....Here it is going back together

heres what its got:

Ported head

Trust plenum

HKS 264 10mm lift cams/springs/gears

HKS ex manifolds/dumps

HKS rods,CARR rods bolts

HKS pistons

HKS 25/30's

HKS head gasket

ARP head studs

Lightened Crank

OS quad plate clutch

Sard 720 injectors/trust fuel rails

Ive just spent 3 days smoothing all the casting off the inlets/plenum and matching them all up nicely,ground all the cast marks out of the inside of the block for nice oil return....what a nut buster

Looks nice.

When my engine was built I asked the question about smoothing the inside of the block but was told microscopic filings are caught in the block surface, and will always loosen over time and get into the oil. Was recommended to put the stuff they put on electric motors to hold the wires together (terminology?) inside the block to smoothen it.

I didnt bother!

Looks good though!

Are the welch plugs std steel or brass?

i finished off with fine grit belts...takes forever to wash it all out....although im sure the grout sticks on well....id rather do it the old way just incase grout starts flaking off..the plugs are steel,i rather be changing them down the track than rusting out other bits

    • @Supernanoyour car has ended up in my hands and I was wondering if there has been any work done to the motor?  
    • Sigh... yeah OEM mount rear battery, very R33, very demure, very mindful.
    • Would need a substantial current draw in the car to make a bunch of sparks. Obvs to now test resistance to ground of the car's B+ lead. If there's a short there, you'll see it. Only likely place for that, as you suspect is alternator. But there is also the possibility that rats have had a chew on some insulation. Shitbox has the battery in the boot, yeah? Plenty of cable to attack.
    • Oh, I thought of that too... I disconnected the battery and hooked up the leads direct to the car without the battery in place. Sparks... I suspect the following: Alternator has decided to kill itself Starter has decided to kill itself I'll recharge the battery, then unplug both, and go from there. The above might take 6 months - however I did buy a Victron 15 AMP trickle charger, apparently it's better than CTEK?
