Just wondering who would be interested in a potential group buy for Denso Iridium Power spark plugs.

Cost will be $16 per plug (inc GST) + postage (Express Post anywhere) from Vic.

Quick read HERE

We have them installed in 2 M35's here in Vic, both of which run beautifully (OE platinum gaps are 0.8mm).

Unfortunately due to the fact that the M35 plugs need to be shipped from Japan, there will be a 10-12 week wait from time of order.

Have yet to look at S1 or S2 plugs, but let me know if you are interested and I will get a price for C34's also

pfft i put in local ones and my car has been running fine. i think the local ones are identical, but there is a letter in the part number that appears in a different spot.

however, better plugs might be worth the money, and at $16 a pop thats a decent price! thats platinum price! normally iridiums are $20+ a pop

No you can get iridium plugs for $16 if you know the right places to look.

Just out of curiosity- why are you against running copper plugs? just cause its a PITA to change them?

I found the Irridium plugs made a big difference in my sr20DE motor- but I prefered coppers in the Sr20DET. Personal preference I suppose.

it funny you should say that about SR20s, i did the exact same thing!

and yeah, you dont wanna be changing plugs too often in an M35. you need to remove half the intake piping to get at them. doing that more than once every 4 years would suck bigtime!

Yep, as zei20l says below, there is quite a bit that has to be removed to get to them (they are bloody deep in the engine too).

I can tell you that the Denso Iridium plugs also improve the VQ25DET's reponsiveness (and willingness to rev) a bit with when compared to NGK Platinums (changed at 80,000kms).

When do you need them?

I was probably looking at placing the order in the first week in June.

I will need the money up front to place the order (I have to pay all money up front to Denso when I place the order).

I just bough a set of 6 NGK Platinums from my local repco store.

costed me $ 31 each.

but then its worth it becuase i feel the car is going alot better now,

Not sure if it gona save some fuel as I just filled up yesterday, see if i can get any more kms out of it.

by the way for someone who is going to change the plug themselves,

I accidently dropped a plug into the turbo intake pipe when i was fitting the new plug, yea i know its stuipd mistake but some how my plug changer decided to slip the plug perfectly inside the pipe.

Lucky I got the magnetic picked if not I just have to pull the turbo intake pipe out!

so if u happen to do it urself, make sure u put anything to fill the hole up before u start putting the plug in.

Yea, I think I know which one you are talking about ...

I saw it at Yahoo Auction Japan,

its starting bid at 10k yen.

Yea, I was thinking the same thing too...

I thou would be good to keep one as a core.

you should have it high flow and use it on ur car, then keep your stock one as a core for who blew thier turbo!

No real hurry man....i will be doing them at the next service along with a full tranny service and that is 3000km away.

Yeah, but remember that the plugs will take sometime to come over.

Would definitely be interested, let me know when you need dollars. D

No worries Dale.

Will find out when the next shipment for Denso leaves Japan to give a firm date.

definetly count me in cameron i will maybe get two sets if the price is right

No difference in price for 2 sets Liam. Sorry mate.

$16 per plug = $96 for a set... + Express post to wherever you are located.

~3 month wait on plugs after order is received by Denso (I can not speed this up).

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
