I've e-mailed Selby's Sway Bars and asked for them to confirm the diameters of the front and rear swaybars.

I'll advise tomorrow if I hear from them :P

Works out at $250 a swaybar so total of $500 supplied, not bad really.

that's a little more than Sydneykid was quoting when he first did mine. I think the quote was about $460 for the set then.

Cheers

Andy

$450 for swaybars groupbuy and I'm in.

I dunno about the rear wing though (angus), I love that rear aero though. You can have then wing and I'll take the rear bumper

and on the photos of the stock or not swaybars stephen - if they were anything other than stock someone would have offered to swap for your tred old standard ones (if you get my drift :P)

I have absolutely no idea who you are talking about ;)

Oooooh. you mean the guy with the "Will f*#k for Stagea parts" shirt :D

I spoke with Gary and he said there was a group buy in the making??

but selbys website says about 550 both delivered perhaps a bit more with gst..

gary said 230 each delivered.

perhaps the group buy is for c34's? as no body knows about it here?

lol its not like stephen needs to use the swaybars anyway. he has a child seat in his car!!!!

Technically I don't, it's in the R31 at the moment :) Sheesh that ugly green monster called jealousy rears it's butt ugly head again :)

Selby's has them for $250 a piece plus delivery, no option of pick-up??! I just got an email back from them and they havn't been very helpful, they seem to think the measurements on the website are correct and it's because the factory one's are hollow and these are solid, hence the smaller diameter.

Someone want to measure Andy's just to make sure? ahem.. his sway bars that is.

Nothing going officially, but you can definitely organise something with Gary.

Yeah, would love to have this clarified.

When you have the time, would you mind measuring the diameter of your swaybars Andy?

Ok, It is wet in Sydney so I have done the best I can tonight without getting soaked getting under the back of the car to check the rear.

The Front is 30mm (measured with calipers) as I originally advised and am confident to say the rear's are also as advised 27mm.

Gary (Sydneykid) is very accurate with his information and is very care full to ensure the correct information is posted and the right item was built to improve the car.

Yes, solid is stiffer than hollow.

Gary is no longer running Selby so maybe some "ass monkey" (love this term) has decided in their wisdom to reduce the size to save cost or they are just wrong.

If you are going to upgrade I would recommend going with Gary's original specs.

Tell Selby they have it all wrong.......LOL :P

LOL I hadn't heard the term "ass monkey" until I brought a few of the latest Ministry albums :P

I was emailing the pimply teenager with no t!t$ from the front desk I would say lol Maybe I need to speak to someone more knowledgable. Sorry if the above mentioned is anyone's sister or girlfriend lol

I asked for it to be double-checked but I think I was wasting my breath!!

I don't really want to pay for them to be manufactured to find some "ass monkey" has gone and reduced the diameter.

I would go elsewhere but there are not many other options within Australia.

I have sent Gary a PM to see if he can give any clarification.

Mine were made in April 08, so maybe they all became light weights and reduced the specs. I don' know? LOL

Will let you know when I hear back.

Cheers

Andy

OK, Sydneykid can do a group buy if enough people will do it.

He will have them made to the specs he previously posted.

So if you want the 30mm front and 27mm rear, Pm Sydney kid.

Do I take this as confirmation that Selby's did reduce the size of the sway bars?

If not, and it's just the wrong information on their site I will wait until I am ready. With the Nismo S-Tune mine handles find so I won't worry about Sway Bars until after the highflow, exhaust & ecu.

Do I take this as confirmation that Selby's did reduce the size of the sway bars?

Yes, I would say they are ass monkeys. LOL (who would up grade to a smaller bar, perhaps softer)

The only certain way of getting swaybars as per Gary's spec is to order with Gary.

I wanted all the handling mods done first, then performance. Getting a price on the exhaust tomorrow, did you get a quote from Charleston? Maybe we can ht them up for a 2 car price if you are ready to do it?

I'm not ready for the exhaust, I'll combine the turbo and exhaust all in one hit. I need to get the funds and then co-ordinate it. I believe they are going to see the dump pipe early next week so hopefully they will be able to whack something together and save me importing from Japan.

I didn't get any estimate

I didn't get any estimates yet as they were waiting to see the dump pipe, I'll probably keep the muffler and just have the rest of the exhaust replaced. I'll have to try and get some flow specs on the muffler somehow.

    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
