Just fitted a boost gauge to my M35 as the dash mounted one doesn't work. I found the boost sitting on 16 psi from just over 3000 revs, then dropping to 13 up high (probably due to the compliance cats, all 4 of them.) is this normal? I thought these cars had 2 stage boost. I cant see any mods to the solenoids or piping?

there is a solanoid that controls boost, its just under the engine cover on the right....

as for boost dropping off, its because of a few reasons, yes the exhaust is restrictive, and im guessing that the turbo is out of its efficiency range that high up in the revs.

your car is an RS? you have an aero kit with fog lights. maybe the fogs were optional with aero?

Get rid of that exhaust ASAP Scott.

It will help kill your turbo (as it did mine) and set you back a couple of grand.

Yes they were :)

Yep, an RS four. I havent done the fast check yet as the version I found was only up to 01, but the options seem to be hardcoat, aero with lower and lowbeam fogs, factory hids working and factory tint?

I would like to know if it has LSD also.

If anyone gets the chance to plug it in, its : NM35-304741

Also, I was surprised to find the aluminium bonnet. Very nice.

Tint is standard across all models.

For some reason, FAST is not displaying any factory options.

I can tell you that you car does not have HICAS though.

Aero kit could have been put on after I guess?

Car came with what seem to be Nismo 17x9.5 inch rims, rear wing too.(part of the kit?)

Are all m35 lowbeams adjustable from inside? neat addition.

Could have.

So you have LMGT4's on that thing? What colour (Black would be ace)?

Rear wing will probably be from the Nismo body kit as the Aero kit did not have one as far as I know.

Yep, all headlights are adjustable from inside in 4 (?) stages (0, 1, 2 and 3 - the higher the number, the higher the beam)

nice ride mate.....black rims look awesome...good contrast.....have you figured out what suspension you have because it does not look standard. As for the boost mine used to start off at 16PSI and bleed back to 12PSI even after the exhaust was done.

Ok, it seems there is no 2 stage (unless you switch to snow), with masses of pull from 3000. 16psi seems high for standard, do these factory turbos have a ceramic ex. wheel?

It seems like the throttle has a soft action at launch, there is no way to spin the tires even on dirt it seems, It just pulls away like its got traction. Do they all drive like this? If so, bring back the good old cable I say.

Springs: Standard rears? King front.

Shocks: Stuffed :(

I'm getting a turbo back 3inch stainless system fitted on Wednesday and as soon as my tax is done I will probably import a set of HKS LS+ coilovers. That should get all the issues sorted.

Your RS Four will put torque to the front wheels at a slight sense of traction loss from the rears. And 16psi is about on the mark. I dynoed my car and it peaked at about 15.5, then dropped off.

Feels soggy (a ramped feeling)taking off untill 3000 then madness. If I back off after a boot, the gearbox seems to hold its gear too. The auto probably needs a service.

But it does give you the extra push to go the whole hog and get a high-flow :(

From what I've seen, the Aero is NOT put on FAST, my car has the factory aero kit and FAST does not mention it, I don't think

Iain's (ziel20l) had anything on FAST in regards to his kit either.

You driving in Automatic mode I assume? Try manual shifting, it's must more fun :)

Are you SURE?

My M35 RS4 is 100% stock, haven't touched the car mechanically except servicing and I changed the stereo. According to the factory guage its maxxing out at ~0.8bar which is under 12psi. That sounds more likely. I've never heard of any Nissan coming out of the factory with more than 12psi except for the new gtr. and even the aussie version of that runs 12psi.

You may have a modified exhaust/turbo or intake?? Maybe pressure is being leaked somewhere, causing the wastegate to stay closed longer?

It is a ceramic turbo - so it seems very unlikely Nissan would design the car running higher boost than the turbo can handle. And we all know that ~14psi is the physical limit of the ceramic turbo.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
