agreed, just watched it, it was just a clever way of having shuey as the guest for the day with his Ferrari toy.

the bit at the end with shuey messing up the lap in the daewoo (loved the smashed windscreen), and the coments that followed kinda made me suspect that more.

otherwise, i thought the power board was only for road driveable/registered cars? those ferrari's will never see the road

YAY for new UK TOPGEAR!!!!!!!!!

I think the criterion to be eligible for the power board is to be able to go over a speed bump.

yeah that car is schumchers personal car, and they are all custom fit (seat position and pedal position) so it makes sense he be the one to drive it. it would've done thousands of kms test driving the car when it was being designed and would be able to do the lap in it faster than any other driver because he knows how the car reacts.

and he wouldn't be the first owner of a vehicle to do a lap around the track dressed as the stig.

The Fxx's lap time has been disqualified as it went around the track on racing slicks not road tyres.

Ben Collins apparently outed himself to an art gallery when he wanted some prints of the stig made but I'd happily believe that shuey is the stig not Ben., although it seems unlikely that Ferrari would've let him have the time off for top gear when he was racing for them.

Everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that, for 75% of the time TG's been on air, Schumacher was reigning multiple F1 world champ, and thus wouldn't have had the time to nip back to the UK for a couple of days a week to shoot a lap.

He' was there because it's his personal car, as others have pointed out - no way in hell i'd be letting anyone else drive MY unique bespoke hypercar at full pelt around a track.

There is multiple stigs, but I'd be willing to bet that the powerlap one is the same guy, so there's consistency (I know TG isn't renowned for its accurate, unbiased journalism, but it wouldn't be hard to get one guy to do the lot for consistency's sake). I think they only get ringer stigs for special occasions (eg. The stig who drove the renault F1 was Heikki Kovalienen, renault test driver at the time). Apparently there's a line in his contract that if his identity is outed by anyone (Hammond, May and Clarkson included) he gets sacked instantly, so it's in his best interests to keep it quiet.

    • Update: O2 sensor in my downpipe turned out to be faulty when I plugged in to the Haltech software. Was getting a "open circuit" warning. Tons of carbon buildup on it, probably from when I was running rich for a while before getting it corrected. Replaced with new unit and test drove again. The shuffle still happens, albeit far less now. I am not able to replicate it as reliably and it no longer happens at the same RPM levels as before. The only time I was able to hear it was in 5th going uphill and another time in 5th where there was no noticeable incline but applying more throttle first sped it up and then cleared it. Then once in 4th when I slightly lifted the throttle going over a bump but cleared right after. My understanding is that with the O2 sensor out, the ECU relies entirely on the MAP tune and isn't able to make its small adjustments based on the sensors reading. All in all, a big improvement, though not the silver bullet. Will try validating the actuators are set up correctly, and potentially setting up shop time to tune the boost controller on closed loop rather than the open loop it is set to now. Think if it's set up on closed loop to take the O2 reading, that should deal with these last bits. Will try to update again as I go.
    • More so GReddy oil relocation kits, sandwich plates, etc. all use 10AN fittings. And same, I've only used 10AN and my car sees track work (circuit, doing laps, not 10 sec squirt business).
    • street use or race track, what hose size and why? what factors change with the hose size options ?   see most comon is an10. when you see most oem external coolers are closer to an12? does high volume oil pump like nitto need an12 or 10 be just fine
