melbourne trading post are ****s...

Recommended Posts

I just thought i'd share that..

I put my damn car in there.. so i think, ok, i'm not going to write 50 pages on my car and pay $2000 for the ad, so i'll just put the basics and put the link to the website i created with everything a person would need to know.. i think, ok, that will work nicely.. person goes to the site before having to hassle me over the phone with pointless questions. So lo and behold, in their wiseness they've decided to take the URL out *without damn telling me*

****ing get with the times, farkin losers..

who the **** wants to look at some shitty 2cm photo in some ****ing shitty paper that you can't really see shit about the car??! when a one word URL can put as many damn photos and info as you like in a proper form. Trying to hold on to old fashioned printed values, and trying to screw a person out of a more effective method of trying to sell their car is just stupid if you ask me.

And not only that its not at all specified in their stupid "terms and conditions". Bastards!

thank **** i didn't do a "prepaid" ad

/RANT OVER

They are trying to make you keep the car bitch!

Maybe :D .. those QLD roads are calling "skyline...skyline... skyline" I know. I think i also hear it whispering "2530.. 2530..2530" for some reason? :D

thanx mick.. i know, well i doubt i'll get much interest because i left all the good stuff in the website and its one you have to see to appreciate why its a bit more than other 33 out there, but oh well.. See what happens.

Whats the other places you sell your car these days?

My advice is unique cars mag. I tried all sorts of forums and cheap web sites for 6 months for basically no respose.

Put it in unique cars - 1st week had 15 calls - sold it to best offer 6 days after mag was released (sold interstate too). Was great. Still getting calls now and the next issue is due out next week.

I also bought my Skyline from there too.

yeah you would have - needs to be done 15 days before the mag release date. Website - kinda. All ads in unique cars go on carpoint.com.au web site for a month - the web site advert gets an extended description as well. I used the website to place my add however - but remember to go back an change the option from standard to 1/8 color page which you cant do when you first set up the add. Costs more (about $100 total) but is worth it. I bought a few issues and looked at the ads and descriptions that caught my eye and used those as a basis for my ad.

But yeah - your next opportunity will be for the mag realesed at the end of Nov.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Here it is:

Yup, it had to be in about 2 weeks ago, so i've missed this issue. Doubt i'll be around for 2 months anyhow. I finish work on the 7th :D I'm not even going to be at the same address in a week.

Looking around though at prices, i think its a bit of myth that cars are cheaper in QLD (not skylines anyway), so doesn't really matter either way.

:burnout:

There's a hovercraft for sale in this week's 'Things That Go' - I'm afraid that may take some attention away from the Skyline.

Just thinking about this - would be pretty rad cruising to work. Go along the river, then drive up the boat-ramp at Princess Bridge. Hmmmm

Mind you, attention just diverted to a Skyline - ICEGTR for sale on same page...

If u r gonna drive up here u need something with lots of top end for those long 5km straights near where i am, a 2530 just wont cut it!!

hehe.. you could be right there :) Last time i was cruising around up there, brisbane, Sunshine Coast and the twistys, I was driving like a Daihatsu Charade that wouldn't go above 120km/hr! It was like being a caged animal!

Pred is closer to me in melb than you are up there in Cairns Puuuuunnnkkkkassssss :)

The gold coast hinterland has some awsome roads... The locals know ;)

when i sold my supra i used carsales.com.au

its $10 for as long as you like. plus you can upload pictures and it tells you how many people looked at the ad etc.

DO NOT advertise in the Age or Herald Sun definately not worth it.

but as far as trading post goes i have always had positive experiences with them, i even bought my R32 through there!

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
