Jesus!

Who setup your catch can?

PCV is still in tack, but you've blocked off the breather line to the intake pipe!

How is the fumes suppose to be sucked out when the plenum pressure is +ve?

Plump it back so the 3rd line off your catch can is going back into the intake pipe!

haha...

I set up the catch can so that could be the reason why it's wrong?

Currently, the 2 hoses off the top of the rocker cover is going to the catch can and it pretty much ends there, venting to the atmosphere. The previous hose back to the inlet has been blocked off.

I always thought that was what was suppose to happen so oily air is not introduced to the engine again?

Should I route one line back to the inlet? ie, the catch can has 4 points, 2 in from rocker cover to the top left, 1 vents to atmosphere (bottom line) and the other (top left) I should route back to inlet?

Thanks in advance and thanks all for confirming S2?

I checked the timing belt/cam cover and there's a lump on the left side facing out. This is S2?

Its a S2.

In regards to the catch can, seems fine to me. I have mine set up the same.

PCV intact because blocking it caused blowby,

Rocker covers vented to an atmo venting catch can, and the breather --> intake line blocked. Was told to use that by a very knowledgeable SAU member too.. Been fine for me.

Looks like its still plumbed, but in the line that goes from exh. rocker cover to the intake i put a custom alloy bung where the brass restrictor was.

So its a Series 1.5? Did the 1.5 come with a series 2 motor or has everyone in this thread with a 95 had an engine swap?

Series 1.5 came with series 2 motor. Also has the higher sitting series 2 spoiler (the one in your avatar). As far as I know they were all 1995.

Hey johnnillicte,

My current setup seems to be working fine. Although what you have said seems to make sense too. What are the benefits of plumbing back into the inlet (beside legality). Will it scavenge more from the rocker?

What's everybodies thoughts? Quite a few mechanics have seen the engine bay but no one has commented, surprisingly?

Cheers,

J

On idle the PCV will open up and stuck air from the cam covers into the plenum, saying that, it will be also sucking in from the vent you have on idle. This will disrupt engine idle as this air isn't being read by the AFM

If you have the catch can plumped back into the intake, on boost you will be drawing more blow by out of the cam cover as it will "suck" from the cam covers.

To further enhance the efficiency of the catch can, just fill it up with steel wool.

    • First time visitor and currently getting ready to start work on my HK Premier.  Its all stock, 186 with 3 on the tree.  The only mod i have right now is extractors.  I am hoping to get some guidance on slightly modifying the engine to bring a little more power. Just going for a nice, comfortable cruiser.  The car is very straight, however i have been out of the country for 20 years and its been gathering dust at a family farm.  Will be doing quite a bit of body work to cut out some small rust areas (frnt quarter panels and a few other small bits) and fix up the paint.  Will be redoing the interior (its currently black and the seats are in real need of recovering and respringing the driver side (its front bench seat).  The dash needs a little TLC, but no real damage.  As my heater has degraded I am considering fitting something after-market that will be both heater/AC (recommendations here are always welcome). Wanting something discrete that will allow me to use the same controls and not be obvious once inside the car.   For the engine, i have been told i could consider upgrading my cam (imagine i would need a new head as well) and putting a new carby (currently the original stromberg).  However not sure what is going to be the best route.  Would certainly welcome any comments/suggestions.  As  a final step I am looking at changing the wheels. Current hubcaps are in dire need of refurbishment or replacement (imagine its a bit like hens teeth).  Thinking of some clean/classic looking mags (7-inch should be more than enough - not going for a large change in look).  Welcome any comments/advice and of course any questions.
    • I got the ARC M079 due to the space constraint.  Been running mint for the last 3 years.  Plazmaman also seems like a really solid choice but not used myself.    Hunt around for a better price but this is what I have - https://www.rhdjapan.com/arc-brazing-intercooler-smic-m079-bnr32.html
    • Wanted to follow up on this. Did you end up getting the M073? Still deciding on what to get between nismo m073-79 and plazaman.
    • I was just watching these boys up in QLD AWD'ing their S13 too.
