Yeah i cant say this is a totally bad thing, i've just never checked how far from the deck a standard skyline is, whats the difference between standard ride height and 100mm??

I do agree in many extents, the amount of idiots i'm seen who join the "drop it and give it 20's" drives me nuts.

I'm just wondering what they mean by permission exactly, does this just mean get an engineers cert, or that they want paper work from the RTA before hand specifically allowing you to have the mod performed.

i thought lowering a car helped improve the handling of a car???

To a certain degree, yes. But there are those out there who go overboard.

I think what they are mainly concerned with is maintaining the geometry of the vehicle.

To stop the fully sic dropped wrx and vl im all for it.

as these punks go 2km over a speed hump and on an angle, like please if u werent such a "fully sic" racer u wouldnt need to drive 2km over a hump on an angle

to that aspect good, defect all these morons

soon we will see cops with tape measures approaching the car

heheheheh

Typical press release from politician who has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. Michael Daley quite obviously hasn't got a clue. A very confusing press release with conflicting wording and contradictory statements. We will just have to wait for the pubic service bureaucrats to sort out another mess created by their minister.

Cheers

Someone will need to tell this ignoramus that every used car is lower than a brand new car, it's called settling and it happens to every car. The older the car, the more k's the greater the settling. The Recognition Documents for cars that are lodged by their manufacturer with DOTARS (for ADR approval) shows their new height. So his ministerial limo needs approval because it's lower than its recognition document height. Arrest him he's a hoon. :)

Ever thought of entering politics SK??

5cm isnt much.....so if I load my work vehicle up and i get pulled up am I going to be fined for being a hoon...cause Im certainly not pulling 400L worth of diesel off the back of a ute so they can measure it with out a load etc.

And what about cars like a commodere Executive dealer fitted with FE2 or HSV spec suspention.

What a shit law!!!

Actually, Ando (s13deviat) was coming back from Wakie, had gtr rims and semi's and tools etc etc in the backl of his s13

now the car would have weight alot more, and lowered the car more because of the extra gear in the car. got pulled over because car was too low. Tried explaining that to the officerbecause of the extra gear it looks lower.

bit of a joke, so if your carrying things, or even towing, you'll be labled as a hoon because your car will look too low.

sydney kid for pm? :)

Those minitrucking types are in for a rude shock. I've been exposed to their culture before and some of the things they do to their suspension are horrific! Then again there are the smart ones that get their trucks engineered but still, taking leaves out of your springs can't be good.

Just saw this on another forum

- Currently the existing 100mm ground clearance / 1/3 suspension travel is still in place

- Any changes would most likely affect any new installations i.e. anyone with changes done befoe August 1st would be ok

This is just what the bloke has told me.

haha this is stupid. so basically you can say the lowering was done before 1st of august and your in the clear?

Yup, and the cop who pulled you over will believe it........... Riiiiiiiiiight.

I agree, it's stupid.

by, "all modifications needing approval", does that mean everything including pods, mags, lowering, raising, exhaust???

I saw the paper today and the small article listed this aswell.

"any modification to a vehicle will now need engineer approval"

This is crazy. If its from August 1st, how can they prove you did it before Aug 1st?

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
