Troy,,,I've done a late 39 there,,,so a high 37 or a late 38 would be my limit. As usual it's all about money. I'm almost always on used tyres and this time with a shit motor. That said I don't really care,,,I had a ball. If early 40's are where I'm at then thats cool as well.

Evil,,,I'll never ever get my head around why you guys are not doing the state rounds,,,remember I'll be doing the day/nighter. I was the quickest in the dark last time.

Ben,,,I wish,,,I don't have auto blip,,,I only have no lift shift up through the box.

Neil.

Neil,

Im doing the club rounds this year, depending on next year I may do the state rounds, but also looking to do MRA.

but I love OP GP that much I want to go out on the 12th september!

just racing on south circuit on the 13th for club round...

was a fantastic day. Went down to watch my younger brothers race their Bronze EG Civic (class 3b?).

Was an awesome spectacle to see the Advan GTR go round the track!

it's a cool car mate. and very quick. to be honest I was surprised he runs with no cage or any safety gear. I know that half the reason it's quick is weight, but even a decent half cage would be a good idea for a car doing 46s. no point giving up safety just to save a bit of weight. great car though, I could see myself in one for sure. :P

Some really quick cars!

Were the Radical SR8's ignition problems sorted? The owner is still getting familiar with the car hence the current times. The 1:28 was done by Garth Waldron when the car was having ignition issues ie missing at various points throughout the rev range. It should still go quicker. The same car did a 56 lap of Wakefield with the same issues!!

So is the Radical running the same V2.4L V8 engine as used in the Caterham Levante? Is it supercharged? Was reading about an Exige buildup using the RST Performance V8. Look like killer engines that weight less then 90kgs for 500hp! Or is it running the Radical V8 that is made from Hayabusa heads? I understand the Radical V8 is fair bit more expensive then the RST V8

yeah it's 2 X hyabusa type thing. similar to the hartley V8 ( http://www.h1v8.com/page/page/1562068.htm ) and I think a couple others that now have a V8 using 2 hyabusa heads. and it's NA. still I would guess at least 400hp and probably as much as 500hp even NA and the car couldn't be more than 400kg. not a bad power to weight ratio!

Russ,,,check out this site,,,or have you already done so???.

You know you want one.

Neil.

Just noticed this thread. It was a top day with awesome weather, best day we've had all year i reckon. It was great catching up with a few of you, and those i havent yet, i will try to next time around. Great video Neil!

The Radical SR8 is 380hp and 600kgs from memory. Yes it is based on 2 Hayabusa engines. Relatively inexpensive too, considering the times it is running...

That link above is I believe where he bought it from.

Sorry Duncan- I should have introduced myself. I was the chick chatting to Mark Berry on the grid at the start of the day when you stopped by to chat. Great driving - I've got some (what I think are!) good pics somewhere. Will find and send through.

Any pics of the R34 on the track?

    • Have a vb in honour of the car comming back
    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.
