Cheers Brad,

I tried to find some registered cars at MRA yesterday to see how they do it...but all i could find that was regoed was a triumph TR-7 so doesnt really apply to me lol.

At the moment the plan is to get everything else sorted out, and running smoothly on the track then ill get the cage made up, i figure that there is no point doing the cage now only to find there are engine issues etc, plus I need track tyres aswell.

Yeah you wont find many rego'd cars out there anymore. Its entry level but getting rather serious kinda fast, Almost everything out there was a purpose built car yesterday and rightly so.

Going off the times where would you have roughly placed??

Id guess around the 1 min 10 mark??

TBH I have no idea what it runs around there, only been out on street tyres, played with the suspension a bit and was not far behind a couple of evo 8s (street tyres aswell)

but then the motor decided to piss oil everywhere so went home before I timed myself.

wtf how the f**k did I miss this thread!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Good build up mate!!!

Cant wait to get chopped by this @ the track!!!

we'll need to organise one race weekend, you, me, ando, Ryan, brad and have a mad weekend at a race meet and beers after

FTW!

Cheers Chubbs

Not much to update on the car atm...waiting for my EMU harness to arrive.

But lack of funds has put the brakes on this for now...might go strip the rear of the interior this week

Not much to report here atm, apart from installing my Tech Edge 2J1 wideband and having a bit of a play with the tune.

Boy doesnt the stock ecu run rich...9-10:1 afrs just crusing round town =\

if you bought the tech edge second hand throw the sensor in the bin and buy a new fresh one before using it to data log.

I have found recently with data logs that a new sensor can read signifiacantly different than an older sensor and on a race engine running two sensors in each pipe we only get 6 months from them before they're not accurate.

AFI who I buy from says its the heat that would be shortening the life span of the sensors which bosch confirms in most of their tech documents.

I bought it brand new, but that is handy to know

Its been worth every penny so far....got 160ks to a quarter of a tank today :P

Going to try and wire up the standard boost guage sensor to it and see how it goes logging boost pressure.

Also do you use to tech edge to log RPM? cant work out where to wire it too...im thinking the tach signal wire or is there a better option?

if your going to use the tech edge to log then use the number 1 coil pack output or the tacho signal wire yes.

As long as you configure the TE and you know what voltage=what boost pressure then you can log that sensor with ease.

There are far better data loggin devices on the market than the tech edge though. Its main purpose is a lambda obviously but data is okay for simple things

hahah...id forgotten about this thread....well im chucking in a whiteline 22mm rear sway bar this weekend.

now has 740cc injectors......

and well thats probably about it for now.....gotta fix a leaky sump this weekend too

Well....So much for selling the car lol

new bits and pieces have been ordered, such as, a New turbo setup :D

Adjustable front upper camber arms, a few new gaskets etc.

will get some pics of the newly stripped interior once i get back from holiday.

A few Teaser pics of whats about to be fitted over the new few weeks

Pillow Ball adjustable upper arms

this will be used as my catch tank, just have to modify it a little to fit some filters on it

post-16947-1262514557_thumb.jpg

And this was an impulse buy. Dunno if it will do a whole lot but i love the look of "noddy's" Yellow R33 so I couldnt help myself.

post-16947-1262514600_thumb.jpg

Also a new turbo setup, as i wasnt convinded the cheapy stainless manifold would be up to the task of being a full time circuit car without cracking,

So its back to the standard exh manifold with a Hypergear ATR43 G3, with the big .82 rear housing.

Im hoping to have a nice linear power curve upto 7000rpm with this setup

So if any one is interested in a nice complete high mount turbo setup for cheap as the turbo needs new seals shoot me a PM for more details as i dont wanna turn this into a forsale thread :)

    • GCG is a good company, they're a major distributor for Garrett in Japan as well.
    • Nah, OEM washer bottle and brake fluid reservoirs are fine I don't know what it is with the plastic that Mazda used, some plastics, like the washer bottle and brake fluid res are fine, and still look new after 20 years use, where as the coolant expansion tank, and PS reservoir, that I replaced with new OEM items when I first got the car, turned yellow and started getting brittle a few years later If the dirty yellow stained plastics didn't trigger me there wouldn't be an issue, but they did, much like the battery bracket....... Meh As for going back to work full time to support car stuff, nope, why, because I own a Mazda NC MX5, not a Nissan R series Skyline 🤣
    • I've never heard of CJ-motor, so can't advise you on them. I'd just go straight to GCG for a GCG highflow though. Seems no point to use a middleman. I'm somewhat surprised that the price on the CJ site is lower than the GCG retail price. Even though CJ would get a discount of some sort, you would hardly expect them to give up so much margin. Maybe the price is out of date? Having said that "I'd go to GCG"...when I did my highflow, I went to Hypergear. I did this https://hypergearturbos.com/product/rb25dethighflow/#tab-dyno-results with the R34 OP6 450HP profile. With the BB centre (extra $400) and intially with the standard boost actuator, but I eventually got him to send me the high pressure one when I got to the point of being able to actually use it. Ends up costing the same sort of money as the GCG highflow, but this is, of course, the turbo that I KNOW has a shorter length core and so moves the comp cover rearwards. The GCG apparently doesn't do that. My mechanic also swears by the GCG highflow, given that we have another turbo rebuilder who does something essentialy the same as theirs, using Garrett wheels. He says it stands up at really low revs and makes good power. I haven't pushed my HG highflow past ~240-250rwkW yet (should have a little more in it, but unclear how much) and it does have a fairly gentle boost ramp. OK, it's much better now that I have gotten my boost controller tuned up on it.  A lot of my earlier unhappiness was because I couldn't keep the wastegate flap as closed as it needed to be (including some mechanical issues). I'd still prefer it to boost up nearly as quickly as the stocker, and it certainly a bit slower than that. So maybe the GCG one is worth the first look (for you).
    • Ok thanks 🙂 I will higly consider this. Any "known" company for a good reviews and experience to send that off? Is that CJ-motor good one? Or go straight to GCG site? I need to use VPN to even find some of those "shops" let alone access them 🙂
    • You can literally put in as much WMI as it takes to quench the combustion totally (and then back it off a little, obviously), and it will keep making more and more power. The power comes from the cooling effect of the water (and the meth) and the extra fuel (the meth, which also has massive octane). It is effectively exactly like running E85. One might be slightly better than the other, but they are damn close. But with either you can lean on the boost or the timing (or both) waaaay more than with just petrol and the results are similar. Here's the first thing I googled for an anecdotal bit of evidence. Can't access the attachment without being a gold member, but it is there for the getting if able to, or searched up elsewise perhaps. https://www.hpacademy.com/forum/general-tuning-discussion/show/wmi-vs-e85/
