only 2 people, thats a fair effort :P

It went in with two of us as well... Poor car sunk in the ass "just a bit" lol

good to see you two got it out.

As for crazy fun, try standing a trailer on end. One personpushes motor against trailer while the other pulls the drawbar back down... Voilà loaded engine!

Didnt get anything done last night...cbf doing it with spanners lol.

But i did discover the motor has being rebuilt at some stage as it has .5mm oversize slugs in it, they look to be pretty good quality (better than the cast set I bought a few months ago).

Fingers crossed they are forged

if the pistons and bearings are all good just balance the thing and get the required modifications made, stick it back together with new oil pump, water pump and bearings. if/when it breaks go for the forgies as its not going for silly power.

needs new bearings as matty killed them lol,

I have a set of new rings ill throw in aswell

oh does that mean it already has all the modifications done to the block? that thing will be cheap and fairly easy to get going then. if you need anything machined on it talk to greg at pro engines, he is about 5 mins from your work and knows his RB30's.

It was my original 30 block, it went rattle rattle rattle... Quite loudly!!! Could be easily heard 100 metres off... Lol

told 'drew he could have it if he wanted to take it in as is cons as I was unsure of crank condition

Yeah thats what Im hoping for :ermm:

Im always chatting to Greg about stuff lol

mmmmmm. anything that is x matt is going to be well used lol. rattlle rattle is bad Matt lol. :(

time for chev me thinks.

From the call I just got... There's is supposedly "shavings" of metal through the motor... Lulz

I dont have pics atm but who ever did the machine work on the crank should be shot!

They drilled the crank to balance it...but punched a hole through the side of 2 counterweights! and didnt bother to clean up the large metal shards...so i could just rub my thumb over them the chunks of metal would come off.

also found cracks in the ring lands on 3 pistons and the rods look junk due to the same dodge machinist.

Ill get some photos of the thrust bearings aswel, because I lol'ed when i could move the crank back and forth 5mm.

So Im up for an entire rotating assembly for an RB30, might be a while before its done, but it will be done well

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣
    • You’ll be very upset when you bust that too not to mention the gearing totally sucks. Don’t do it.
    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
