So I was lucky enough to get a chance to go to the Goodwood Festival of speed this year.

For those of you that's don;t know it, basiclly they invite the owners of lots of classic race cars (as well as modern ones) as well as all the current supercar manufactures to bring their cars along for a show and to thrash them up the hill climb stage:

Goodwood website

so lots of pretty metal ranging from old school F1 through to Zonda/Veyron and even a Holden Commodore and R35 Spec V.

plus a few notable drivers, Lewis hamilton, Sir Stirling moss, (in a Merc SLR Stirling moss ed) Jenson Button, Sebastian Loeb, and even a few nascar drivers

better yet you can get very up close and personal to the cars in the pits. really a car event for true car enthusiasts,

and no drunken jobs being idiots like you would get here

anyhow I took a "few" pics if your interested

My Goodwood pics

and some tasty samples:

I've been to this many moons ago and can highly recommend. Stand out for me was the McLaren F1 (very new at the time) getting off the line on the hill climb. Most incredible induction noise I've ever heard. Very loud and very angry. Pity it's in the middle of nowhere in England......

Man, so gotta go to this one day!

I just can't get over the sheer amount of quality cars there! And so much history.

Tell us more about it, cost, how good was the viewing, how long does it run for, what's the format etc.

so it was about a 1.5 hour drive from heathrow, (in a 1.6 focus) with free parking.

general entry was 48 pounds, (roughly 100$) this must be purchased in advance no tickets at the gate.

that gets you entry to the pits, the supercar paddock, and both the hill climb and the Forrest stages, (basically everything but the grand stand and corp tents)

there were 350 cars/bikes there with a combined value of 275 million Pounds, and they were all racing!

It's a 3 day event, and every car/bike gets 2 runs a day each in their class, eg pre war F1, modern F1, Le Mans, supercar, bikes, EV.

plus displays from the red arrows.

and you could just wander up to any point of the track and there would rarely be more than 1 or 2 deep spectators. other than in a few places like the start line.

Plus there was a retail area for lots of aftermarket things, model cars, plus all the manufactures.

    • I've got a 2011 J50 that I imported six years ago. The unmodified factory AV system date and time has always been correct ( Japanese timezone of course ) up until last month. About two weeks ago, at engine start, the system wished me a happy new year ( in Japanese of course ). I can't think of anything that would make the system think that the date had changed, unless the GPS component has failed/reset somehow ? I checked the GPS reception in the system settings, and it can still see the satellites. Has any other J50 owner had this happen ?  It's no biggie, just annoying that it tells me the wrong date anytime I start the engine. 😅
    • Love following your adventures on IG, hopefully if you're still around in Japan when we visit again wouldn't mind going for a few beers with you (that's if you're keen on hearing how I hate Nissans).
    • ok so if i wanted to go 18's i would go for 8's  in front 30+ or 32+ off set at front and the back 9 would be ok? what offset should i aim for.. then can i do some  hunting for wheel rim choices..    If i get this - will this fit all around: Size: 18 x 8.5 +37 - n what tyres size tyre should i get for front n back?
    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
