Why draw the line at only V8's vs turbo cars ? Why not include V12's , rotaries, Diesels....Hell why not include a Jet engine as well........Really mate what is the point of this thread ?

its just like arguing Religion or Politics

There is no right or wrong - only personal preference

what about vtec motors?

Both types of engine have aspects that shit me, but I think a V8 turbo would be my choice something torquey to kick in before the boost through the top end

This is why the Typoons are good cars, torquey large capacity 6 + turbo

yeah for sure Dan mad combo

oh yeah, and fark that v8/turbo debate poo, honestly i've heard this argument so many times its annoying. both applications are effective in what they do.

ok dude ino that's been done to death but the main debate was that my cousin was sayin that turbo's have/make fake power compared to a v8, wats ur reply to that? is there any truth behind this?

tell your cousin he's talking out of his ass, wtf does fake power mean??

whats he trying to say? 300rwkw out of a turbo motor is fake compared to 300rwkw out of a NA v8??? dyno's dont lie, 300rwkw is 300rwkw.

he probably thinks just because a v8 sounds like its "making a whole" 300rwkw then a "hissing" jap motor mustn't be because it doesnt sound like it is.

mate all i can put it down too is ignorance of your cousin, he's one sided, always will be, because he's never known any better

be the better man and say to him "yeah v8's are decent" (coz they are) "but jap engines are also good and thats what floats my boat"

in my opinion im glad he's into 8's, one less dickhead to give us a bad name. lol (in all respect)

couldnt have said it better if i said it myself.

man i cant stand these debates, and wat i even hate more is the arrogance and ignorance of the common V8 driver.

i like V8s aswell but id take an SR or RB anyday, shit id even consider a CA ova a V8 these days LOL

Morpheus: what is real? how do you define real?

Neo: A v8 is real, ill take the blue pill

Anyways, this fake debate; what about breast implants? they are real.....well technically they take up space and time, they feel great n look great and if they fell down in a forest they's make a sound lolz.

Weird comment from me, well so is the whole v8/turbo real/fake power lolz.

Is there actually any power serious benifit from arrangement of cylinders? I mean, is a 4L V8 magically going to make more power than a 4L v6?

The v8 should theoretically rev better due to smaller/lighter reciprocating components.

Yeah well he use to have a vlt back in the day, I love both v8's and turbo's at the start I hated turbo's but in time they grew on me and now I couldn't live without 1 lol, spose his point is with a turbo it's fake cos u got a turbo bolted on where with an 8 it's pure power and hp, doesn't realise how tuff the jap cars are anyway i'm over it lol long live the nissans  especially skylines!!

I think you should both check out ;

The only true power is NINJA . everything else is fake.

This thread is sooo cool I saw a ninja totally flip out and kill twenty moderators !!!

I feel like my brain capacity and IQ has just increased by 200% by reading this thread. I have never been so enlightened by internet wisdom before.

couldnt have said it better if i said it myself.

Let's not forget the ignorance/arrogance of the common turbo driver...both sides have their f***ing morons who seem to think that their particular application is better than the other.

eh this debate will go on forever....

V8s are cool, I like turbo's just cause i like the feeling of hitting boost and I've always had an RB and just enjoy the way the whole setup of them is.

Theres those on both sides that will sit there and go 'this is better then that' but nether are better. you have to go to an individual engine setup. E.G. My engine setup vs a VL 5 litre holden motor.... mine is probably better yes. My engine vs a lamborghini V8, probably not better

The only way to say which is better is to put them to the test but like i said you cant group all V8s vs all Turbos. If you know wat i mean...

Can't even make that comparison 89CAL, not without specifying the variables that determine "better". Are we talking fuel economy or power or torque or what? Are the engines stock or modified? You need to be very, very specific when comparing engines - pretty much to the point where there's no point comparing them because it will come down to one being more suitable for the purpose it was designed for. This is where things get tricky and threads like this are just one great big moot point.

Better power doesn't mean a faster car, it all depends on the weight. Heck, i imagine the engies out of some of those huge luxury sedans are pretty dam beefy, but the car itself might not be fast around a track.

this thread is the reason why I don't even waste my breath trying to talk to either bogans or one eyed import lovers about cars.

ps rev[200] your links aren't funny, ninjas and maddox are f**king gay like chuck norris jokes, welcome to faggotry from 5 years ago.

    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
    • For race cars, this is one part where I find having the roll cage bar having gone through a hole in the floor better than the build it up on a ledge inside... The Merc I help on, the main hoop ends are marked on the car, and the jack is marked... Jack goes under a few inches and lifts one whole side of the car up... Removes that fight for long slim jacks for race car duties!   My biggest issue for the daily drivers I work on, is my jacks don't go high enough. The jacks start out on a few blocks, jack it up, then start a second jack under it on more blocks, and then I can get an axle stand under it. My axle stands are presently in use, and are nearly fully extended. The car is sitting with barely more than a cm of clearance to get the wheel off the studs! Sarah's Kluger is the same, as it has an ungodly amount of droop available in the suspension and a distinct lack of good jacking points!
    • Happy? Yep, my to do list is getting shorter and shorter. Either this light approaching is the end of the tunnel, or I'm about to be hit by a train... Ha ha ha   Also, Duncan isn't that far out of town that you need to make a multi day drive out of it. 😛
