hi all,

i currently have a r32 gts-t coupe

i have recently bought tein type HR coilovers

i want to install them myself caz i want to learn how to do it and im broke

we started doing the front one, completely no idea what to do

*the tools i only have is a basic set of sockets, a small spanner lol*

me and a mate have jacked up the car, taken off the wheel,

removed the strut at the top and the bolts and we get to the bottom,

theres a big nut apparently we need to take off but its bolted on retardedly hard

we soaked it with WD40 but still couldnt budge it, here is what it looks like.

what tools do i need? and these are the right points?

also is the rear any more difficult to do??

thx

Yes those are the right points...

You'll most probably need a breaker bar to get the bottom nut off as its sposed to be tight. make sure you don't round the nut tho :P

Once you get the nuts off the hard part is getting the strut off the bottom stud. Some leverage will need to be done.

Rear isn't any harder, just need to make sure you have jacked it high enough to get the strut out.

leverage.

hay fela....start with putting the 2 nuts back on the top of strut finger tite.

you'll need a 19mm socket or spanner, don't no if you have herd of a thing called ring locking?????? :D

its when you put the ring of 1 spanner on the bolt, with another spanner using the ring lock it into the open end of the spanner on the nut.

thus making more leverage. :P

Also try doing the nut up tighter then undo it.

once nut is off,use a long bar(screwdriver) to lever bottom of strut off.

then once off,put 1 hand under guard to hold strut, and the other to undo the nuts on top(finger tite).

boom its out.

when putting the new stutes in, you will need the lower arms to come up to the new hight.

undo the caster arm AKA(radios rode) nut and lower arm nut.this will allow them to swivel up and down.

if you dont the ruber insid them will terr faster.

goood luck :)

You don't need to disconnect anything else (caster rods). You might need to lift the lower control arm a bit, but you can do that with a crowbar or similar, or a jack.

Just do the job with BOTH front wheels off the ground, and it will be a whole lot easier to put it back together.

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
