Hey guys,

Busted my drivers seat at DECA so it's time to get a decent one. I've been having a look around some for sale threads and a few websites. I've sat in a couple of the drift brand reclinable seats at Autobarn and didn't think too much of them fpr the money.

GT-R seats seem popular but are all pretty damn old now so they don't seem worth the money, the just jap copies look pretty cheap on the website, I imagine quality is in line with the price.

Where abouts in Melb can I go and try some other seats?

I'm thinking fixed back is the way to go (though I think I have to use a reclinable seat to keep road worthy - car is street reg'd but only ever goes to and from events or the suspension place).

I've been looking at the Velo GP-90 but don't want to shell out without having sat in one at least. A mate of mine has a Velo something something fixed back so I'll go try that but I'm thinking I'm going to need to sit in a few more so if you guys know where I can go in melb to try some let me know (it's a 3hr drive for me so hitting up a few places in one day is a good idea..)

Meridian Motorsport have Velo and Sparco, Revoloution racegear have cobra, omp have racetech. these are the three brands i would look at. I had a Velo Podium 2 and it was awesome, i now have a racetech and somewhat wish i still had the Velo but its still good.

It is definantly a worth while purchase. stay away from all the Drift/autotechnica crap. High sides and low mounts are the key, especially in silvias/180s. i managed to make the velo fit into a bride superlow rail.. it takes a bit of convincing.

i got the bucket seat in my ke70 from import monster for $60! lol

its a fixed back "dash" brand - seems aight.... quite low and holds me in tight....

made up some brackets with bunnings parts - and bolted it onto the ke70 rails - $20

i have gtr seats in the r33 and i wouldn't bother with them for a motorsport car.... they are great for my daily driver, but nothing more adventurous than the occasional light hearted track day

I just went to our local revolution and sat in some Cobra's they seem alright. Even the base model $450 one was OK. Though it lacked a little shoulder grip that the more expensive ones had. I'm gonna go sit in my mates Velo GP-90 in the next day or two to compare. They're about 650 and comply with ADR's where as the Cobra's don't. Technically my car is still street reg'd so the ADR stuff is a nice bonus.

I tried this at revolution

http://www.revolutionracegear.com.au/index...rimary&CDO=

and it was OK but the shoulders didn't grab enough.

I also tried this one

http://www.revolutionracegear.com.au/index...rimary&CDO=

But it seemed to twist and flex a bit and is almost $900 without rails etc.

The Velo GP-90 is looking pretty good at the moment.

Merdian has them for $648

But that doesn't include rails and I doubt it includes the mounts either.

Do the side mounts allow height adjustment?

Other factor is postage, the Cobra is already here available locally. Velo has to be shipped.

There's also the Milano

http://www.motorsportworld.com.au/products/velo/index.htm (top seat)

which appears to be a GP-90 without the removable/adjustable seat cusions.

anyone have one of these?

Also, do the rails need to be modified to fit in an S13? Don't suppose you know this Ryan given you used Bride rails which were probably S13 specific?

I recommend the Bride Guardis III.. Great seat, very strong and quite comfy for everyday use. A little awkward getting in and out but you get used to it. Can't really use a standard seat belt with it though... Not really cheap but you want a good quality seat don't you?

I've also used the Bride Zeta III full bucket seat, also a nice secure seat. Some people complain about the narrow lower back and seat base, so if you have a fat ass might be worth trying it first. They come in a wider base version too.

Mick and Tim bought podium 2's. the same as what i had. the biggest difference is that the sides dont drop away towards the front like the Gp.

As for rails, my car, Tims car and Micks car have all had the old mounts cut out and new solid mounts put in. It gets you a lot closer to the ground. so if you dont care about not moving it and you dont have a midget freind that will be driving it i would recomend doing that...

Ahh thanks Ryan.

Cutting out and welding in new mounts is getting a bit serious (I'd have to get a mate to help as I'm not that metal fab savvy) I was hoping for a bolt in solution. Side mounted seats allow height adjustment though don't they? All the mounts I have looked at have at least 5 holes for height?

For what? to ask them if the GP-90 is a better seat?

I'd prefer to make my own mind up by sitting in both. My issue is being in Alb/Wodonga and not being able to sit in both easily.

If they have one in stock to sit in... I didn't realise you were so far out... makes them being in bayswater not mean anything haha, had been posting without much time and hadn't checked your location.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
